Dec. 15 Lakota Nation Invitational Boys Roundup - Lower Brule pulls away from Pine Ridge

Lower Brule 58, Pine Ridge 47

RAPID CITY — Class B No. 4 Lower Brule used a 30-18 second half advantage to pull away from Pine Ridge for a boys basketball win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Lower Brule’s Brian LaRoche Jr. led with 18 points and five rebounds, while Gavin Thigh had 17 points and five rebounds. Lane Gray recorded 10 points and six rebounds.

Pine Ridge’s Anthony Steele led with 14 points and five rebounds, while Jaylin Rouillard finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Justin Eagle had eight points.


Tiospa Zina 35, McLaughlin 34

RAPID CITY — Tiospa Zina held off McLaughlin for a boys basketball win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Tiospa Zina was led by Tate Never Misses a Shot with 10 points and six rebounds, while Reondre Greeley had nine points. Storm Sierra added six points.

McLaughlin was led by Elias Sims with 13 points and eight rebounds, as well as Raymin Yellow Earrings with 13 points and seven rebounds.

 



White River 59, Todd County 32

RAPID CITY — Class B No. 1 White River picked up a boys basketball win over Todd County at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

White River’s Joe Sayler scored 20 points, while Gavin Folkers recorded 12 points. T.J. Beardt tallied 10 points and six rebounds, while Nicolas Marshall added seven points and three steals. Evastine Wright had seven points. 

Todd County’s Stacy Eagle Bear-Poignee led with seven points and seven rebounds, while Stephan Guerue had six points. Ray Crow had five points, while Ty Valandra and Wakinyan Sa Selwyn each had four points.


Marty 63, Little Wound 42

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to lift Marty to a win over Little Wound at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Benicio Zephier logged 22 points, four rebounds and four steals. Kizer Ashes posted 11 points and 10 boards. Greg Zephier tossed in 10 points, while Terill Rave had nine points and nine rebounds. Alonzo West scored six points. 

Little Wound’s Tristan Kills Small recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Cashus Hunter finished with eight points, while Kinyan Catches Enemy had six points and six rebounds. Daelan LaBeaux recorded five points and five rebounds. 


Lakota Tech 60, Custer 53

RAPID CITY — Lakota Tech held off Custer for a boys basketball win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Lakota Tech’s Marvin Richard III tallied 16 points, while Kendrell Cuevas had nine points. Dominic Ghost Bear had eight points, while Jamiah Bianis added seven points.

Custer’s Kyle Virtue scored a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Rhett Lowe logged 16 points.

 



Santee (Neb.) 112, Tiospaye Topa 72

RAPID CITY — A pair of 50-point individual scoring games were logged on Thursday at the Lakota Nation Invitational.

Tiospaye Topa’s Krist Meeter and Santee, Nebraska’s Austyn Saul scored 54 and 51 points, respectively, in the high-scoring affair. Saul finished 21 of 29 from the field and hit seven 3-pointers, while he grabbed 15 boards. Meeter went 15 of 25 from the field and hit seven 3-pointers, while he collected 12 rebounds. 

Santee’s Justus Denney added 14 points, while Tasunka Starlin and Nunpa Torrez scored 13 points apiece. Marquis Tuttle added nine points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Yellowcloud grabbed seven rebounds and Kellen Medina added six points and five rebounds. 

Tiospaye Topa’s Dennis Sand III had seven points and seven rebounds. Kaden Rousseau added six points. 


St. Francis 47, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 43

RAPID CITY — St. Francis held off Cheyenne-Eagle Butte for a boys basketball win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

St. Francis was led by Darin Arcoren Jr. with 11 points, while Ty Valandra had 10 points and five rebounds. DaShaun Clairmont had eight points, while Cante Kills In Water had seven points.

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s MacKenzie Cass logged 13 points and nine rebounds, while Kingslee Parker had 10 points. Damien Clown added eight points.


Wakpala 66, Oelrichs 27

RAPID CITY — Wakpala used a 37-9 first half to cruise past Oelrichs for a boys basketball win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Wakpala was led by Ashtyn Kills Small with 26 points, while Zachary Moran tallied 10 points and six rebounds. Lance Cadotte had eight points.

Oelrichs was led by Stanley Walking with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Edwin Fills Pipe had 12 points and five rebounds.


Rapid City Christian 77, Red Cloud 61

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Christian had three players score in double figures to lead the Comets past Red Cloud at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

RCC’s Sam Fischer totaled 27 points, while Simon Kieffer tallied 15 points and seven rebounds. Benson Kieffer recorded 10 points, while Julius Frog had nine points and eight rebounds. Elijah Hoyt added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Red Cloud’s Adriano Rama had 15 points and five boards, while Josiah Cottier had 14 points. Monty Montileaux had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Haedyn Haas added eight points.


Crow Creek 73, Wall 68 (OT)

RAPID CITY — Crow Creek outlasted Wall for an overtime win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Crow Creek’s Quentin McBride Jr. led with 21 points, five rebounds, and four steals, while Kiron Thompson had 16 points and six rebounds. Julian Eagle had nine points, while Daniel Goodface had eight points and six rebounds. Oscar Walking Bull had seven points and six rebounds.

Wall’s Brodi Sundall led with 23 points, while Cedar Amiotte tallied 18 points and eight rebounds. Jace Mohr recorded 15 points, while Ben Amundson added 10 points and 10 rebounds. 


Crazy Horse 72, Dupree 54

RAPID CITY — Crazy Horse pulled away from Dupree for a boys basketball win at the Lakota Nation Invitational on Thursday.

Crazy Horse’s Hyden Martin finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Noah Iron Horse had 16 points and nine rebounds. Richard Pumpkin Seed had 16 points, while Donnie Hoof had 11 points.

Dupree’s Klayte McLellan led with 15 points, while Braydon Terveen-Smith tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Randen Eagle Chasing had eight points and 10 rebounds.
