Boys

Burke 57, Scotland 39

BURKE — Burke coasted past Scotland for a boys basketball win on Tuesday. 

Burke’s Reed Benter tossed in 24 points, hit six 3-pointers and collected four rebounds. Nick Nelson added 13 points and five rebounds. Bryce Bartling and Jaden Swan scored six and five points, respectively. Swan added six rebounds. 

Scotland’s Stephen Johnson and Tranten Skorep scored 11 points apiece. 

 



Pierre 64, Watertown 46

WATERTOWN — Three players scored in double figures to pace Class AA No. 3 Pierre to a boys basketball win on Tuesday. 

Lincoln Kienholz finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Benjamin Heisler and Jackson Edman scored 15 points apiece. Edman added nine rebounds. Carson Ahartz scored six points. 

Watertown’s Kohen Kranz scored 14 points. Dylon Rawdon and Caden Beauchamp scored eight points apiece. Dalton Baumberger and Will Engstrom scored six and five points, respectively. 


Jones County 61, Stanley County 51

FORT PIERRE — Jones County held off Stanley County for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Cooper Feddersen powered the Coyotes with 31 points. Jett Nix added 16 points, while Kaden Kinsley scored eight points. 

Stanley County’s Broch Zeeb scored 17 points, while Paxton Deal netted 11 points. Kaden Montana and Blaize Frost scored seven and five points, respectively. 


Castlewood 70, Flandreau 51

CASTLEWOOD — Class B No. 5 Castlewood used a balanced scoring attack to pick up a boys basketball win over Flandreau on Tuesday. 

Castlewood’s Bryon Laue and Lane Tvedt paced the win with 14 points apiece. Laue collected eight rebounds. Joe Decker finished with 11 points, while Jackson Schofield scored 10 points. Quincy Thu had nine points, while Jamison Keszler added seven points. Booker Schooley scored five points.

Flandreau’s Luke Sheppard scored 19 points and Alfie Henderson scored 12 points. Paul Parsley recorded eight points and six rebounds. 


Howard 64, Colman-Egan 29

COLMAN — Howard cruised past Colman-Egan for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Howard’s Kolt Koepsell recorded 16 points, six rebounds, and four steals, while Colby Claussen had 14 points. Luke Koepsell tallied 13 points, while Kade Shumaker and Taiden Hoyer each had six points.

CE’s Jackson Zwart led with nine points, while Ben Zwart and Sawyer Uhing each had five points.


Parkston 63, Parker 42

PARKSTON — Parkston pulled away from Parker for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Parkston’s Kaleb Weber tallied 16 points, while Will Jodozi logged 12 points and 12 rebounds. Luke Bormann had 10 points and six assists, while Sam Benson added eight points.

Parker’s Ray Travnicek had 12 points, while Seth VanVliet had 11 points. Harley Davis added seven points.


Elk Point-Jefferson 59, Viborg-Hurley 53

HURLEY — Elk Point-Jefferson earned a hard fought win over Viborg-Hurley in boys basketball action Tuesday night. 

Chance Fornia led the Huskies with 14 points. Alexander Scarmon added 11 points with Jacob Scarmon chipping in with nine points. 

Gage Goettertz paced Viborg-Hurley with ten points, five rebounds and three steals. Nick Hanson finished the night with nine points and six rebounds.


McCook Central/Montrose 48, Chester Area 37

SALEM — Three players scored in double figures to lift McCook Central/Montrose to a boys basketball win over Chester Area on Tuesday. 

Boston Katzer logged 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ty Morrison recorded 13 points, six rebounds and three 3-pointers. Mason Sabers posted 11 points. Isaac Kane and Jackson Schmidt finished with seven and five rebounds, respectively. 

Chester Area’s Jovi Wolf tossed in 22 points and hit six 3-pointers. Clay Hanson added six points, while Brayden Schut collected seven rebounds. J.D. Porok had five rebounds. 


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 64, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 46

PLANKINTON — Four players scored in double figures to lift Mount Vernon/Plankinton to a boys basketball win over Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday. 

Mason Hetland led MVP with 19 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Stoltz added 14 points and four assists. Blaine Bohr scored 12 points, while Reed Rus logged 10 points, five rebounds and 10 assists. Zach Baker scored five points and handed out five assists. 

 



Highmore-Harrold 76, Wessington Springs 71

HIGHMORE — Highmore-Harrold outlasted Wessington Springs in boys basketball action on Tuesday. 

Highmore-Harrold’s Bryce Bourk recorded 18 points, while Trake Cowan logged 16 points and seven rebounds. Treyton Knox posted 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Carson Stephenson scored 11 points, while Mason Knox recorded nine points. Dawson Hale added seven points. 

Wessington Springs’ Blake Larson tossed in 23 points and dished out eight assists. Ryder Michalek added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Colby Flowers posted 12 points and nine rebounds. Brock Krueger finished with seven points and 11 rebounds. Parker Graff scored six points. 


Sioux Valley 92, Beresford 49

BERESFORD — Four players scored in double figures to power Class A No. 2 Sioux Valley to a boys basketball win over Beresford on Tuesday. 

Oliver Vincent tossed in 23 points, while Patrick Carey scored 22 points. Alec Squires added 14 points and Maxwell Engebretson scored 15 points.

Beresford’s Tate VanOtterloo scored 23 points, while Aidan Hamm had nine points. Malachi James and Seth James scored six points apiece. 


South Border, N.D. 69, North Central 20

EUREKA — South Border, N.D. used the double-figure scoring of three players to earn a win over North Central in boys basketball action on Tuesday. 

Trevor Schmidt led all scorers with 28 points. Parker Saluiei finished with 13 points while Luke Scherbenske had 12 points. 

Cole Bukaske led North Central with seven points and Dawson Walz had six points. 


Leola/Frederick Area 60, Potter County 27

GETTYSBURG — Leola/Frederick Area pulled away from Potter County for a boys basketball win on Tuesday. 

Leola/Frederick Area’s Brayden Sumption and Ethan Petrich finished with 12 and nine points, respectively. 


Waubay/Summit 59, Waverly-South Shore 37

WAUBAY — Waubay/Summit played their first game of the 2022 season Tuesday, earning a win over Waverly-South Shore.

Damon Opdahl with 22 points, seven steals and three assists. Jonathan Johnston finished with 16 points and five rebounds and Jackson Wohlleber had 12 points and five rebounds. 

Troy Kneeland paced Waverly-South Shore with 17 points with Landon Maag chipping in ten points


Tri-Valley 50, Vermillion 48

COLTON — Tri-Valley outlasted Vermillion for a boys basketball win on Tuesday. 

Braden Oyen led Tri-Valley with 14 points, while Noah Haynes added 11 points. Carter Sorenson scored nine points. 

Vermillion’s Carter Hansen finished with 15 points, while Carter Skogsberg netted 14 points. Zoan Robinson scored 10 points. 


Sioux Falls Jefferson 71, Sioux Falls Lincoln 57

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 1 Sioux Falls Jefferson pulled away from Class AA No. 2 Sioux Falls Lincoln for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Sioux Falls Jefferson was led by Kaden Year with 27 points, while Taylen Ashley tallied 18 points. Griffin Wilde recorded 17 points, while Beau Giblin added seven points.

Sioux Falls Lincoln’s J.T. Rock recorded 24 points and seven rebounds, while Tate Schafer had 14 points. Elliot Whitney and Jack Hilgenberg added seven and six points, respectively.


Sioux Falls Washington 64, Huron 55

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Washington used a 23-7 fourth quarter to earn a come-from-behind boys basketball win over Huron on Tuesday.

Sioux Falls Washington’s Zharic Sheppard scored 20 points, while Cole Peterson tallied 16 points. Mandalla Mohamed had 10, seven assists, and six rebounds, while A.J. Akot added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Huron’s Reilyn Zavesky logged a game-high 29 points, while Dylan Lichty had nine points. 


Girls Basketball

Scotland 40, Burke 31

BURKE — The Scotland girls received double-figure scoring from two players as they earned a win over Burke on Tuesday night.

Jenna Vitek’s double-double powered the Highlanders as she finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Martina DeBoer had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals while Trinity Bietz scored five points while hauling down 11 rebounds. Bailey Vitek finished with five points and two steals. 

Adisyn Indahl led the Cougars with 15 points. Paige Bull had six points and six rebounds and Kailee Frank had six points, three assists and three steals. 


Viborg-Hurley 63, Elk Point-Jefferson 37

HURLEY — Class B No. 1 Viborg-Hurley had three players reach double-figures earning a girls basketball win over Elk Point-Jefferson on Tuesday. 

Denae Mach led the Cougars with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Coral Mason had a 15 point eight rebound night and Estelle Lee finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Charley Nelson finished with eight steals, two points, four rebounds and four assists. 

Bentlee Kolbaum led Elk Point-Jefferson with 20 points. 


Pierre 51, Watertown 29

PIERRE — Class AA No. 4 Pierre picked up a girls basketball win over Watertown on Tuesday.

Ayvrie Kaiser led the Governors with 12 points and eight rebounds. Reese Terwilliger added 11 points, while Remington Price posted 10 points. Ryann Barry recorded five points. Lennix DuPris grabbed eight boards. 

Watertown’s Emery Thury scored eight points, while Maddy Rhode had six points. 


Parkston 50, Parker 23

PARKSTON — Parkston used a balanced scoring attack to pick up a girls basketball win over Parker on Tuesday.

Parkston’s Faith Oakley finished with 13 points, six rebounds and five assists. Abby Hohn added 10 points and three rebounds. Mya Thuringer and Berkley Ziebart scored nine points apiece. Thuringer had nine rebounds, while Ziebart had five rebounds and three steals. 

Parker’s Shayla Voletz finished with six points. 

 



Howard 58, Colman-Egan 56

COLMAN — Howard edged Colman-Egan for a girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Howard’s Abby Aslesen logged 20 points and nine rebounds, while Kate Connor tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds. Rylee Rudebusch added 10 points.

Colman-Egan’s Brynlee Landis scored 14 points, while Lanie Mousel had 13 points and seven assists. Berkley Groos had 12 points, while Kaylee Voelker added 11 points. 


Wolsey-Wessington 64, Faulkton Area 32

FAULKTON — Class B No. 2 Wolsey-Wessington had three players score in double figures as they cruised past Faulkton Area for a girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Wolsey-Wessington was led by Leah Williams with 23 points, eight rebounds, and five steals, while Mallory Miller had 19 points, six boards, and four steals. Mya Boomsma added 12 points.

Faulkton Area was led by Addison Melius with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four steals, while Ashly Senn and Paislee Martinmaas each added six points.


Wessington Springs 58, Highmore-Harrold 39

HIGHMORE — Wessington Springs jumped out to a 21-3 first-quarter lead and picked up a girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Wessington Springs’ Carissa Scheel finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Kate Havlik added 12 points, while Avery Orth had 11 points and 12 rebounds. Kirstie Munsen and Ashlyn Weber scored seven points apiece. 

Highmore-Harrold’s Brooke Palmer posted 14 points and six rebounds. Kendall Cermak scored seven points. Jada Baloun added five points, while Reghan Westcott had five rebounds. 


Florence/Henry 61, Clark/Willow Lake 41

HENRY — Florence/Henry pulled away from Clark/Willow Lake for a girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Florence/Henry’s Caylin Kelly stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and five steals. Trinity Watson, Taylor Watson, and Reese Schmidt each scored 10 points, while Haley Hlavacek added six points.

Clark/Willow Lake’s Kayla Jordan scored 13 points, while Alicia Vig added 11 points.


Vermillion 58, Tri-Valley 39

COLTON — Four players scored in double figures to pace Vermillion to a girls basketball win on Tuesday. 

Brooke Jensen finished with 25 points, while Brooklyn Voss added 11 points and six rebounds. Kasey Hanson and Leah Herbster had 10 points apiece. Jenaya Cleveland had four assists. 

Tri-Valley’s Ava Pearson posted 15 points, while Lauren Grinde scored nine points. 


Sioux Falls Washington 62, Huron 31

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Washington built a 19-5 first-quarter lead and picked up a girls basketball win on Tuesday. 

Brooklyn Harpe finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Claire Woods added 11 points. Shaelyn Fink and Hannah Harpe scored eight points apiece. Hannah Harpe added four points and four assists. Grace Peterson scored seven points, while Ava Brink logged six points. 

Huron’s Hamtyn Heinz recorded 13 points and hit four 3-pointers. Isabelle Ellwein scored eight points, Heavan Gainey had five points and eight rebounds.


Hartington Cedar Catholic, Neb., 51, Dakota Valley 45

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley dropped a girls basketball win against Hartington Cedar Catholic, Nebraska, on Tuesday. 

Dakota Valley’s Jorja VanDenHul finished with 16 points, while Melanie Snoozy had nine points and four assists. Sophie Tuttle added 11 rebounds. 

Hartington Cedar Catholic’s Makenna Noecker scored 30 points.
