Boys

Timber Lake 57, North Central 54 (OT)

EUREKA — Timber Lake outlasted North Central in overtime for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Timber Lake’s Brady Sandquist scored 14 points, while Tristan Dupris had 11 points. Elijah Brewer had 10 points, while Gracen Hansen added seven points. Gavin Farlee scored six points. 

North Central’s Bastien Delalande led all scorers with 22 points, while Dawson Walz had 11 points. Cole Bukaske added nine points.


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 70, Miller 43

MILLER — Three players scored in double figures to pace Mount Vernon/Plankinton to a boys basketball win over Miller on Thursday. 

Zach Baker tossed in 20 points, while Reed Rus added 11 points. Mason Hetland chipped in with 10 points. 

Miller stats were not reported. 


Deubrook Area 60, Alcester-Hudson 26

WHITE — Deubrook Area cruised past Alcester-Hudson for a boys basketball win on Thursday.

Deubrook Area’s Jacob Jorenby logged 27 points, while Landon Johnson had eight points. Colin Bauman added five points.

Alcester-Hudson’s Jose Topete-Lopez scored seven points, while Ethan Bovill had six points.


Castlewood 76, Arlington 22

CASTLEWOOD — Class B No. 5 Castlewood used a balanced scoring attack to pick up a boys basketball win over Arlington on Thursday. 

Bryon Laue led the Warriors with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jackson Schofield added 13 points and seven rebounds. Jamison Keszler recorded nine points, while Booker Schooley scored eight points. Lane Tvedt and Bowen Ryan scored seven points apiece. Bennett Johnson scored six points and Joe Decker had five points. 

Arlington’s Riley Miller finished with nine points, while Kaden Steffensen added five points. 


Girls

Chester Area 68, Mitchell Christian 31

HURON — Three players scored in double figures as Chester Area cruised past Mitchell Christian for a girls basketball win at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday.

Chester Area’s Emery Larson led all scorers with 24 points, while Jacy Wolf and Emmerson Eppard each had 16 points.

Mitchell Christian was led by Rebekah Strong with 11 points, while Kelsey Holdeman added seven points and five rebounds.


Faulkton Area 61, Lower Brule 37

HURON — Addison Melius powered Faulkton Area past Lower Brule for a girls basketball win at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday.

Melius led the Trojans with 27 points, while Jaymi Senn tallied eight points and five rebounds. Paislee Martinmaas and Ashley Senn each had five points.

Lower Brule was led by Lael Middletent with 10 points, while Courtney Traversie had nine points. Alyssia Fire Cloud and Brilyn LaRoche each had five points.


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 50, Elkton-Lake Benton 25

HURON — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket doubled-up Elkton-Lake Benton for a girls basketball win at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday.

SCW was led by Liz Boschee and Kamryn Ochsner with 15 points apiece, while Boschee also added eight rebounds and four steals.

ELB was led by Kylie Ramlo with 11 points.


Warner 52, Burke 41

HURON — Warner picked up a girls basketball win over Burke at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday.

Warner’s Ava Nilsson recorded 16 points and 20 rebounds, while Kyra Marcuson and Kendyl Anderson each had eight points. Kamryn Anderson added six points and six rebounds.

Burke’s Adisyn Indahl tallied 14 points, while Elly Witt had 10 points. Bridget Bartling added six points and four steals.


Howard 54, Lyman 31

HURON — Howard outscored Lyman in all four quarters earning a girls basketball win at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday. 

Kate Conner paced Howard with 17 points with Abby Aslesen putting up 14 points and five rebounds. Trinity Palmquist dished out five assists while Canyon Kidd and Tana Hoyer combined for 17 points. 

Makaylee Scott led Lyman with 14 points and four rebounds. Skyler Volmer scored seven points and Jordyn Scott scored four points and grabbed four rebounds. 


James Valley Christian 60, De Smet 48

HURON — James Valley Christian earned a girls basketball win over De Smet at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday.

JVC’s Kaylie Robinson poured in 26 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Alexa Goertz had 15 points, while Lily Hofer added 11 points.

De Smet’s Hazel Luethmers recorded 24 points, while Jada Burke had eight points. Emma Albrecht added six points.


Harrisburg 53, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 31

HARRISBURG — Class AA No. 5 Harrisburg picked up a girls basketball win over Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Thursday.

Harrisburg’s Abby Flanagan scored 19 points, while Jaylee Hofer totaled 17 points and nine rebounds. Hannah Eide added 13 points.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Katie Spicer had 10 points. 


Platte-Geddes 58, Canistota 22

CANISTOTA — Platte-Geddes had three players reach double figures on their way to a girls basketball win over Canistota on Thursday night. 

Karly VanDerWerff powered Platte-Geddes with 21 points and nine rebounds. Baleigh Nachtigal and Cadence Van Zee combined for 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists. 

Kayla Papendick led Canistota with 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Ellie Becker chipped in seven points and six rebounds for the Hawks. 


Florence/Henry 50, Milbank 39

MILBANK — Florence/Henry used a strong second half to earn a road win over Milbank in girls basketball action Thursday. 

Trinity Watson scored 24 points to lead the Falcons. Taylor Watson hit a pair of 3 pointers and finished with 10 points. Caylin Kelly had seven points and five rebounds with Haley Hlavacek contributing seven points. 

Maurina Street led Milbank with 16 points and four rebounds. Isabella Anderson scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds for the Bulldogs. 


Timber Lake 59, North Central 35

EUREKA — Three players scored in double figures as Timber Lake pulled away from North Central for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Timber Lake was led by Carlie Lawrence with 18 points, while Jasmine Nash tallied 16 points. Shay Kraft had 11 points. Kendyl Locken and McKenzi Vomacka scored six points apiece. 

North Central’s Brittney Frickson led with 12 points, while Ella Batie had 10 points. Amree Vander Vorst added nine points.


Deubrook Area 44, Alcester-Hudson 36

WHITE — Deubrook Area picked up a girls basketball win over Alcester-Hudson on Thursday.

Deubrook Area was led by Ellie Koenig with 18 points, while Skyla Petersen tallied 11 points. Kadence Bowne added six points.

Alcester-Hudson’s Elly Doering scored 13 points, while Kayleigh Thompson added 10 points.


Flandreau 61, Dell Rapids 42

FLANDREAU — Flandreau raced past Dell Rapids for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Flandreau’s Claire Sheppard totaled 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Lizzie Pavlis had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Lily Klein had nine points.

Dell Rapids was led by Jenna Miller with 12 points, while Claire Wynja had 11 points.


Iroquois/Lake Preston 50, Highmore-Harrold 40

IROQUOIS — Iroquois/Lake Preston earned a girls basketball win over Highmore-Harrold on Thursday.

ILP was led by Anna Decker with 13 points, while Adison Moore tallied 10 points. Hadlee Holt had seven points, while Rebecca Bich and Stella DeKnikker each had six points.

HH was led by Brooke Palmer with 15 points, while Kenidey Effling had eight points.


Jones County 53, Colman-Egan 30

HURON — Three players scored in double figures to pace Jones County to a girls basketball win over Colman-Egan at the Huron Holiday Classic on Thursday. 

Jones County’s Jadyn Jensen finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Mallory Valburg logged 15 points and five boards. Emma Hunt added 13 points and five steals. Jolie Dugan posted six points. 

CE’s Kaylee Voelker recorded nine points and seven rebounds. Lanie Mousel finished with eight points and five rebounds. Abby Rhode scored five points. 


Rapid City Stevens 60, Rapid City Central 37

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Stevens used a 21-3 third quarter to pull away from Rapid City Central for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Rapid City Stevens was led by Taaliyah Porter with 16 points, while Isabell Higgins had 11 points and six rebounds. Finley Love had eight points.

Rapid City Central’s Marielle Colhoff, Teila Jiron, and Leila Roybal each had six points.
