SIOUX FALLS — With the caliber of field assembled for the 2024 Howard Wood Special boys 200-meter run, fast times from the athletes are almost a guarantee.

Nine athletes representing three states will toe the line Friday evening with the opportunity to make an elite list of special event winners.

The Howard Wood Dakota Relays Record for the 200-meter dash is :21.28 set by Hopkins High School, Minnesota, sprinter Joseph Fahnbulleh. Several athletes in this year’s field could challenge that record. 

Bismarck, North Dakota, senior Jeran McNicols has the fastest time of the entrants and has run (:21.20). Sioux Falls Lincoln junior Griffin Fischer has the top 100-meter dash time (:10.57) and top 200-meter dash time (:21.63) among the South Dakota entrants.
