Deuel track teams sweep titles at Legion Relays

SISSETON — The Deuel boys and girls track teams each handily won team titles at Thursday’s Legion Relays in sisseton. 

The Deuel boys racked up 187 points edging Border West, Minnesota (117). Sisseton and Northwestern tied with each team scoring 89 points. The Deuel girls recorded 156 points, finishing ahead of Border West (136) and Groton Area (130). 

Deuel sophomore Oliver Fieber had a big day at the Legion Relays winning four events. The speedy sophomore won the 100-meter dash (:11.20), 200-meter dash (:22.98), ran the opening leg on the winning 400-meter relay (46.16), and ran the first leg of the winning 800-meter relay (1:36.73). Deuel’s Robert Begalka won the shot put (48-03) and discus (141-6.75)

Tri-State’s Kaleb Foltz won the 400-meter dash (:50.85), 800-meter run (2:08.03), the 1,600-meter run (4:33.73) and anchored the second place sprint medley relay (3:53.10)

Groton Area’s Keegen Tracey finished second in the 100-meter dash (:11.57), second in the 200-meter dash (:22.98), second in the 400-meter dash (:53.05) and ran the third leg on the winning sprint medley relay (3:59.25). 

In girls action, Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide won the 400-meter dash (1:01.75) the 800-meter run (2:26.00) and ran the opening leg on Northwestern’s second place 1,600-meter relay. 

Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan won the 1,600-meter run (5:44.06) and the 1,600-meter run (13:10.62) and ran the opening leg in Deuel’s sprint medley relay team (4:48.09).

The Groton Area girls won the 400-meter relay (:54.10), the 800-meter relay (1:52.30), the 1600-meter relay (4:21.69) and the sprint medley relay (4:48.09).

Sisseton’s Chloe Langager won the shot put (35-10) and finished second in the discus (99-5.5).
