Rapid City Stevens wins team title at Yankton Invitational

YANKTON — Class A’s No. 3 team looked impressive as the Rapid City Stevens wrestling team took top honors at Saturday’s Yankton Invitational.

The Raiders posted a team score of 209.5 points, ahead of Tea Area (190.5) and Pierre (179.5). 

Watertown (171) and West Central rounded out the top-five teams. 

The Raiders took top honors in three weight classes as Ayden Kellog (215), Joe Juenger (138) and Max Schoenhard (113) all won individual titles. 

Other individual champions were: Brookings’ Tate Helmbolt (106), Watertown’s Gage Lohr (120), Watertown’s Sloan Johannsen (126), Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Bentley Williams (132), Dakota Valley’s Jackson Boonstra (144), West Central’s Keaton Vessells (152), Vermillion’s Michael Roob (157), Pierre’s Lucas Chamberlain (165), O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (175), Pierre’s Chance Carda (190), Watertown’s Micah Hach (285). 


Tri-Valley wrestlers edged a crowded field Saturday to win the Redfield Invitational

REDFIELD — The Tri-Valley wrestlers edged a crowded field Saturday to win the Redfield Invitational. 

Tri-Valley scored 155.5 points, ahead of Madison (121.5) and Parkston (118.5). Sisseton (111) and Redfield (106) rounded out the top-five teams Saturday, 

Landyn Reiser (165) was the only champion but the Mustangs had seven athletes reach the finals.

Other individual champions were claimed by Burke/Gregory’s Judd Hansen (106), Sisseton’s Kayden Tchida (113), Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey Wessington’s Kaydin Carter (120), Sisseton’s Ian Metz (126), Wagner’s Karstyn Lhotak (132), Madison’s Holden Hawkins (144), Parkston’s Carter Sommer (150), Parkston’s Wyatt Anderson (157), Redfield’s Dylan Murray (175), Wagner’s Gannon Knebel (190), Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington’s Holden Havlik (215) and Redfield’s Grady Fey (285).
