BROOKINGS — Three former South Dakota prep mid-distance runners earned All-American honors at the recent NAIA indoor national championships.

Dordt University freshman Isaac Davelaar (Sioux Falls Christian) helped the Dordt men finish second in the 4x800-meter relay Friday (7:38.47). Davelaar ran the anchor in the preliminary round and then led off the race in the finals. Dakota State sophomore Cody Farland (St. Thomas More) anchored the Trojans to third place in the 4x800-meter relay (7:38.69).

On Saturday, former Freeman Academy/Marion standout and Dordt runner Thaniel Schroeder joined Davelaar and Farland on the national podiums.

Davelaar earned a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:53.19).

In the mile run, Farland finished seventh (4:11.31) and Schroeder finished eighth (4:11.81).

Davelaar and Schroeder were part of a Dordt University men’s team that finished second in the team standings.
