Freeman Flyers capture multiple first-place finishes at Rasmussen Relays

SALEM — It was a banner day for the Freeman track and field teams at Tuesday’s Rasmussen Relays. 

In the girls track events, Freeman’s Vaida Ammann finished in first in both the 100-meter (:13.49) and 200-meter (:27.90) races. The Flyers’ Rylee Peters also took top spots in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.67) and 300-meter hurdles (:47.95). Freeman’s Penny Schultz won the 800-meter run (2:48.73) as well.

Freeman’s Cadence Hofer, Peters, Landrei Baker and Ammann took home the 400-meter relay (:51.96) and 1,600-meter relay (4:18.45). Hofer won the triple jump event (33-00.00)

Freeman’s David Walter won the 100-meter dash (:11.73), while teammate Lane McCune took first place in the 800-meter (2:16.97), 1,600-meter (4:55.04) and 3,200-meter (10:57.13) races.

The Flyers also won two relays with Alaric Knittel, Tate Sorensen, Walter and Luke Peters winning the 400-meter relay (:44.93), while Peters, Luke Miller, Sorensen and Brody Sorensen combined to win the 800-meter relay (1:34.32).

In field events, Freeman’s Hunter Nankivel took home the discus competition (121-09) while Alaric Knittel added top spots in the javelin throw (148-01) and shot put events (42-02.50). Brody Sorensen also added a first place finish in the high jump (5-06.00) for the Flyers.

Canistota’s Caleb Schroeder won both the 110-meter (:17.77) and 300-meter hurdle races (:45.28).

Holden Wollmann won the 200-meter dash (:23.68), 400-meter run (:50.68) and also took first place in the long jump (20-11.00).

Hanson took the top spot in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (3:47.82) with its quartet of Carter Endorf, Jason Porth, Jett Jager and Cole Dewald. Porth, Jager, Dewald and Hudson Oltmanns won the 1,600-meter relay as well.

BE’s Brady Jager won the triple jump event (38-08.50).

Howard’s Brooklyn Becker took first place in the 400-meter race (1:02.93) while teammate Taya Wettlaufer won the 3,200-meter run (15:11.74).

Hanson’s Elliott Abbey won the 1,600-meter run (6:42.27).

Howard’s quartet of Katie Kollmann, Dakota Spader, Paige Mentele and Anna Becker won the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (5:19.06) while Becker, Spader, Ann Connor and Reese Krynauw ran the 3,200-meter relay in 11:38.39.

Hanson’s Lacey Easton, Ella Jager, Brooklynn Schroeder and Hannah Easton combined to win the 800-meter relay (1:56.34).

In field events, Canistota’s Sophie Kostboth took first place in the discus throw (98-07).

McCook Central/Montrose’s Ellie Stofferahn took the top spot in the high jump (4-11.00).

Olivia Rowley won both the javelin throw (81-11) and the shot put event (31-08.75) for MCM, while Mandi Schock collected first place in the long jump (16-05.50) for the Fighting Cougars.
