Jan. 21 Girls Basketball Roundup - Andes Central/Dakota Christian tops Irene-Wakonda at Blizzard Buster Classic

Andes Central/Dakota Christian 48, Irene-Wakonda 40

IRENE — Andes Central/Dakota Christian held off Irene-Wakonda for a girls basketball win at the Blizzard Buster Classic on Saturday.

ACDC’s Halle Olson, Allison Muckey and Josie Brouwer scored nine points apiece. 

Irene-Wakonda’s Emma Marshall finished with 15 points, while Madison Orr logged 11 points. Quinn McDonald had eight points.


Estelline/Hendricks 54, Dawson-Boyd, Minn., 22

WHITE — Estelline/Hendricks pulled away from Dawson-Boyd, Minn. for a girls basketball win at the DVC Classic on Saturday.

Estelline/Hendricks was led by Brooke Johnson with 17 points, while Kenzy Beare had nine points.


Elkton-Lake Benton 60, Adrian/Ellsworth, Minn., 26

WHITE — Elkton-Lake Benton earned a girls basketball win over Adrian/Ellsworth, Minn. at the DVC Classic on Saturday.

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Tevan Erickson had 16 points, while Kylie Ramlo had 15 points. Rachael Krog tallied 13 points, while Emily Robbins had eight points.


Hills-Beaver Creek, Minn., 50, De Smet 49

WHITE — Hills-Beaver Creek, Minn. edged De Smet for a girls basketball win at the DVC Classic on Saturday.

De Smet’s Hazel Luethmers tallied 14 points, while Emma Albrecht had 13 points. Jada Burke recorded 10 points, while Alyssa Asleson added nine points.


Centerville 61, Avon 43

AVON — Class B No. 4 Centerville pulled away from Avon for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Centerville’s Thea Gust tallied 22 points, while Lillie Eide had 11 points, four assists, and three steals. Mackenzie Meyer added seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.


Faulkton Area 49, Highmore-Harrold 43

HIGHMORE — Faulkton Area picked up a girls basketball win over Highmore-Harrold on Saturday.

Faulkton Area’s Paislee Martinmaas had 19 points, while Addison Melius had 14 points. Carley Cotton added nine points.

Highmore-Harrold’s Brooke Palmer recorded 22 points, while Addison McDonnell had nine points.


Lyman 62, Sunshine Bible Academy 23

MILLER — Lyman raced past Sunshine Bible Academy for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Lyman’s Makaylee Scott led with 17 points, while Skyler Volmer had 16 points. Taleyna Wingert had nine points, while Jordyn Scott had eight points.

SBA stats were not reported.


Groton Area 45, Great Plains Lutheran 29 

WATERTOWN — Groton Area picked up a girls basketball win over Great Plains Lutheran on Saturday.

Groton Area’s Sydney Leicht led with 13 points, while Brooke Gengerke and Jaedyn Penning each had eight points.

GPL was led by Halle Bauer, Olivia Holmen, and Esta Cameron with six points apiece.


North Central 41, Langford Area 21

ROSCOE — North Central used a second-half surge to earn a win over Langford Area in girls basketball action Saturday. 

Brittney Frickson paced North Central with 19 points. Ella Battie finished with seven points and Amree Vander Vorst added six points and 10 rebounds. 

Langford Area was led by Alex Darling with seven points and Megan Gustafson with six points. 


Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 54, Waubay-Summit 16

Deubrook —- Julia Trystad and Alivia Bickett combined to score 40 points as Oldham-Ramona/Rutland picked up a win over Waubay-Summit in girls basketball action Saturday. 

Trystad finished with 21 points while Bickett finished with 19 points. 

Eva Benike, Ava Breske and Peyton Rumpza each scored three points to lead Waubay-Summit.  


Rapid City Stevens 43, Brookings 39 

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Stevens outlasted Brookings for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Rapid City Stevens was led by Taaliyah Porter with 21 points and seven rebounds, while MAcey Wathen had eight points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.

Brookings was led by Sophia Hammerich with nine points, while Gracey Sheridan, Logan Smidt, and Macy Even each had six points.


Aberdeen Central 51, Brandon Valley 39

BRANDON — Aberdeen Central picked up a girls basketball win over Brandon Valley on Saturday.

Aberdeen Central’s Taryn Hermansen tallied 15 points, while Anna Malchow had eight points. Taryn Hettich had seven points, while Taylor Lyke and Grace Kuch each added six points.

Brandon Valley’s Hilary Behrens tallied 13 points, while Ava Kellenberger had nine points. Kenndei Deckert added seven points.
