Philip 63, Jones County 54 (2OT) 

MURDO — Philip outlasted Jones County in the Jones County Invitational semifinals on Friday. The Scotties will play White River in the tournament championship game on Tuesday, Jan. 16. 

Philip’s Layton Terkildsen tossed in a game-high 23 points. Lane Kuchenbecker added 22 points and hit four 3-pointers. Kade Fitzgerald netted nine points, on three 3-pointers in overtime. Bryce Westby scored six points.

Jones County’s Jett Nix scored 15 points, while Cooper Feddersen had 12 points and 19 rebounds. Gunner Whitney logged 12 points and hit a 3-pointer to end the game into double overtime. Kaden Kinsley added 11 points.


White River 64, Kadoka Area 40 

MURDO — Class B No. 3 White River pulled away from Kadoka Area for a Jones County Invitational boys basketball tournament win on Friday. White River will play Philip in the tournament championship game on Tuesday, Jan. 16

White River’s Nic Marshall finished with 23 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists. Ray Crow added 18 points. Jordan Uhlir posted seven points, four rebounds and three blocked shots. Mackenzie Wike added six points, while Evastine Wright and Teagen Bouman scored five points apiece. Bouman added seven rebounds.

For Kadoka Area, Garrett Hermann finished with 10 points. Karson Eisenbraun added nine points, while Kole Hermann and Mason Stilwell scored eight points apiece. Kole Hermann had 11 rebounds. Gus Stout grabbed eight rebounds. 


Stanley County 84, Colome 60

MURDO — Stanley County picked up a Jones County Invitational boys basketball tournament win on Friday.

Stanley County’s Kaden Montana finished with 24 points, while Eddie Duffy logged 15 points. Paxton Deal scored six points. Weston Prince and Blaize Frost scored five points apiece.

For Colome, Joseph Laprath tossed in a game-high 35 points. Seth Heath had 11 points, while Jack Anderson scored seven points. Jonah Musser added five points. 

 

Clark/Willow Lake 53, Deuel 45

CLEAR LAKE — Three players scored in double figures to pace Clark/Willow Lake to a boys basketball win on Friday.

CWL’s Emmerson Larson with 18 points and three rebounds. Jack Helkenn had 11 points and five boards. Bo Begeman scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added five steals. Aaron Zemlicka scored six points. 

Deuel’s Trey Maaland netted 18 points and collected four rebounds. Gabe Sather finished with 13 points and 12 boards. Dexter Unzen posted seven points.


Waubay-Summit 66, Tri-State, N.D., 48 

WAUBAY — Four players scored in double figures to lift Waubay-Summit to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Waubay-Summit’s Camden Neilan finished with 18 points, while Traveion Neilan added 16 points and seven rebounds. Jackson Wohlleber and Dylan Rumpza scored 14 points apiece. Wohlleber had seven rebounds and nine assists. Rumpza had six rebounds. 


Wessington Springs 51, Sunshine Bible Academy 14

WOLSEY — Wessington Springs jumped out to a 20-2 first-quarter lead en route to a 281 Conference girls basketball win on Friday.

Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth finished with 14 points and three steals. Carissa Scheel added 10 points and six rebounds, while Kerstynn Heim posted nine points. Mariah Messmer logged five points. Alyssa Grohs had four assists. 

For SBA, Abby Hinman scored six points. Betra Amare had three rebounds. 


James Valley Christian 53, Highmore-Harrold 32

WOLSEY — James Valley Christian pulled away from Highmore-Harrold for a 281 Conference girls basketball win on Friday.

JVC’s Alexa Goetz finished with 19 points, while Addy Bartholow scored 11 points. Rhayonna Hood added nine points and Kaylie Robinson scored eight points. 

For Highmore-Harrold, Jada Baloun scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Autumn Fallis had eight points, while April Fallis and Kendall Cermak scored five points apiece. 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 50, Wolsey-Wessington 35

WOLSEY — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket secured a 281 Conference girls basketball win over Wolsey-Wessington on Friday.

SCW’s Jaycee Baruth finished with 14 points and three rebounds. Liz Boschee added 14 points, five boards and four steals. Kamryn Ochsner logged 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.

For WW, Payton Kemnitz recorded 13 points. Kendal Uttecht had eight points, while Lainey Uttecht had five points and three assists.

 

Iroquois/Lake Preston 38, Hitchcock-Tulare 36

WOLSEY — Iroquois/Lake Preston outlasted Hitchcock-Tulare for a 281 Conference girls basketball win on Friday.

ILP’s Adison Moore finished with 19 points, while Hadlee Holt added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Rebecca Bich scored six points. Faith Steffensen grabbed seven boards. 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Cambree Hoekman scored 13 points and hit four 3-pointers. Katelyn Schroeder recorded 12 points and Rebecca Huizenga scored nine points. Isabel Gilbert grabbed 10 rebounds.

 

Deuel 51, Clark/Willow Lake 41

CLEAR LAKE — Deuel held off Clark/Willow Lake for a girls basketball win on Friday.

Deuel’s Josie Andersen finished with 15 points and Jaycee Hourigan logged 14 points. Gracelyn Nielsen posted eight points, while Camdyn Peterrens had seven points. Kaitlyn Gubrud had six points.

For CWL, Kamryn Nesheim finished with 15 points, on five 3-pointers. Tehya Vig scored 14 points and Shelby Begeman scored eight points.
