Jan. 20 Boys Basketball Roundup - Sioux Valley edges Rapid City Christian at Hanson Classic

Sioux Valley 71, Rapid City Christian 65

MITCHELL — Sioux Valley outlasted Rapid City Christian for a boys basketball win at the Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace. 

Sioux Valley’s Alec Squires finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Maxwell Engebretson added 22 points, six 3-pointers and five assists. Maverick Nelson and Hudysn Ruesink scored eight points apiece. Boden Schiller had five points and six rebounds.

For Rapid City Christian, Simon Kieffer logged 24 points. Julius Frog added 19 points, five rebounds and three 3-pointers. Aiden Roberts had 12 points. Wes Schlabach had eight points and seven rebounds. 


Hanson 66, Clark/Willow Lake 64

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures as Hanson edged Clark/Willow Lake at the boys Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace.

Hanson’s Jayce Slaba logged 32 points, six assists, four rebounds, four 3-pointers and three steals. Sutton Dewald added 15 points and three assists. A.J. Wilber finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Ben Wilber added four points and five rebounds.

For CWL, Sullivan Felberg had 24 points, six 3-pointers, five rebounds and four assists. Bo Begeman finished with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Emmerson Larson logged 10 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Jack Helkenn scored eight points, while Aaron Zemlicka had five points and seven rebounds. 


Gregory 55, Ipswich 51

MITCHELL — Gregory clipped Ipswich for a boys basketball win at the Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace. 

Gregory’s Daniel Mitchell finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Noah Bearshield added nine points. Cruz Klundt had seven points, five rebounds and five assists. Rane Kenzy posted seven points and four rebounds. Lincoln Juracek had five points.

For Ipswich, Jace Konsor logged a game-high 27 points and hit seven 3-pointers. Trevor Heinz added 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kyle Hettich posted five points. 


Howard 54, Winner 43

MITCHELL — Howard pulled away from Winner for a boys basketball win at the Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace. 

Howard’s Luke Koepsell finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Kolt Koepsell added 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots. Logan Mentele had nine points, while Taiden Hoyer posted eight points. Will Maier scored six points.

For Winner, Carter Craven finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Shawn Hammerbeck added 12 points and nine rebounds. Zac Olson scored eight points, while Ryder Halligan scored five points. 


De Smet 57, St. Thomas More 45

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to pace De Smet to a boys basketball win at the Hanson Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace. 

De Smet’s Kadyn Fast logged 14 points and five steals. Britt Carlson added 11 points and seven rebounds. George Jensen posted 10 points. Tom Aughenbaugh had nine points, five assists and four rebounds. Grant Wilkinson had eight points and 10 rebounds. Trace Van Regenmorter added five points and six boards. 

For STM, Turner Thompson had 18 points, four rebounds and four 3-pointers. Holden Griswold finished with 10 points. Baron Slusarski added six points and seven rebounds. 


Leola-Frederick Area 61, South Border, N.D., 47

LEOLA — Leola-Frederick Area held off South Border, North Dakota, for a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Leola-Frederick Area’s Noah Kippley logged 10 points. Gavin Nickelson had nine points, while Brayden Sumption and Titus Kippley scored eight points apiece. 


Flandreau 60, Parker 34

FLANDREAU — A balanced scoring attack helped Flandreau defeat Parker in boys basketball action Saturday. 

Sophomore Luke Sheppard paced Flandreau with 22 points and eight rebounds. Paul Parsley finished with ten points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Landon Wieman led Parker with 12 points and Landon Beck chipped in with nine points. 


Huron 71, Sioux Falls Jefferson 55

HURON — Three players scored in double-figures as Huron defeated Sioux Falls Jefferson in boys basketball action Saturday. 

Blake Ellwein powered the Tigers with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Anderson Porisch scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds. CJ Gainey scored 10 points for Huron. 

Mason Payne led Sioux Falls Jefferson with 13 points. Dawson Sechser added eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
