Ethan 59, Canistota 57

ETHAN — Rylan Gerlach’s shot with 2 seconds left lifted Ethan to an upset win over Class B No. 5 Canistota in boys basketball action on Monday. 

Gerlach finished with 22 points, while Taite Klumb and Drake Gustafson scored 15 points apiece. Braedon Nebelsick scored nine points.

For Canistota, Tage Ortman poured in a game-high 37 points. Brandon Kjetland scored 11 points.


Pine Ridge 72, Vermillion 64

VERMILLION — Class A No. 5 Pine Ridge fended off Vermillion for a boys basketball win on Monday. 

Marvin Richard III finished with 32 points for Pine Ridge, which led 55-42 after the third quarter and held off Vermillion in the final quarter. Richard III added six rebounds. Domonic Ghost Bear added 18 points, while Anthony Steele scored nine points and four rebounds. Jaylin Rouillard scored six points. Kanye Hollow Horn logged five points and nine rebounds. 

Vermillion’s Bryson Skogsberg scored 20 points. Carter Hansen finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Zoan Robinson scored 14 points, while Trey Hansen logged seven points and nine rebounds. Connor Roerig scored five points. 

 

Castlewood 48, De Smet 40

DE SMET — Three players scored in double figures as Class B No. 3 Castlewood clipped Class B No. 4 De Smet for a boys basketball win on Monday.

Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt finished with 13 points and four rebounds. Quincy Thu had 11 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Bryon Laue had 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Luke Baumberger recorded six points.

For De Smet, Tom Aughenbaugh posted 16 points and hit four 3-pointers. George Jensen added eight points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots. Kadyn Fast and Britt Carlson scored five points apiece.

 

Viborg-Hurley 56, Baltic 55

BALTIC — Class B No. 1 Viborg-Hurley edged Baltic for a boys basketball victory on Monday.

Nick Hanson powered the Cougars with 34 points.

Dell Rapids 64, Milbank 45

MILBANK — Three players scored in double-figures as Dell Rapids rolled to a win over Milbank in boys basketball action Monday. 

Jack Henry powered Dell Rapids with 20 points, three rebounds and two assists. Rhett Kloth had 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and six blocked shots. Tad Tjaden added 10 points for Dell Rapids. 

Yohna Ajwanga and Garrett Mertens combined for 24 points and eight rebounds for Milbank. Jackson Wildung and Joe Schulte each scored seven points for the Bulldogs. 


Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 79, Todd County 62

EAGLE BUTTE — Cheyenne-Eagle Butte pulled away from Todd County for a boys basketball win on Monday.

CEB’s Damien Clown poured in a game-high 28 points, while Easton Lawrence added 18 points. Dawson Kennedy had 10 points and Austin Johnson scored nine points.

For Todd County, Roger Roether finished with 21 points and Kendrik Easter scored 18 points. Chris Ellert finished with 14 points. 


Corsica-Stickney 39, Kimball/White Lake 35

CORSICA — Corsica-Stickney edged Kimball/White Lake for a boys basketball win on Monday.

Corsica-Stickney’s Carter Wright finished with 12 points. Tyson Wentland added nine points and 10 rebounds. Lincoln Bruinsma added six rebounds.

For KWL, Blake Leiferman scored 14 points. Lantz Bass added nine points. 

 

Freeman 47, Parker 41

FREEMAN — Freeman held off Parker for a boys basketball win on Monday.

Freeman’s Tate Sorensen logged 13 points and nine rebounds. David Walter had 11 points, while Chris Aasen scored nine points. Rocky Ammann had five points and five steals.
