July 29 State Class B Legion Roundup - Dell Rapids, Redfield remain undefeated after Day 2

Dell Rapids 6, Salem/Montrose/Canova 0 

REDFIELD — Jack Henry struck out 10 to help lead Dell Rapids to a win over Salem/Montrose/Canova in a winner’s bracket game on Saturday at the state Class B legion tournament. 

Henry pitched six innings, allowing a hit and walked two while throwing 108 pitches. Drake Eastman pitched the final inning, allowing a walk and struck out one on nine pitches. 

Henry helped his own cause in the second inning with an RBI double to give Dell Rapids a 4-0 lead. 

Owen Alley took the loss, pitching 1 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on five hits. He walked two and threw 43 pitches. 

Redfield 10, Clark/Willow Lake 0 (5 innings)

REDFIELD — Redfield jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and added four in the fifth to get the mercy-rule win over Clark/Willow Lake. 

Owen Osborn and Camden Osborn each had two hits to lead Redfield at the plate. Owen Osborn picked up the win — pitching five innings, allowing two hits while striking out five on 50 pitches.  

Jack Bratland led the Senators at the plate with a double while Josh Kannegieter took the loss. Kannegieter pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on five hits. He struck out three and walked seven while throwing 108 pitches.  

Tabor 8, Platte-Geddes 1 

REDFIELD — Riley Rothschadl had three hits to lead Tabor to a win over Platte-Geddes during in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon. 

Rothschadl picked up the win, pitching 3 2/3 innings, giving up a hit while striking out eight and throwing 45 pitches. Logan Winckler came in and pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, giving up a run on six hits. He struck out one and threw 50 pitches. 

Tabor jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning and added another run in the sixth. Platte-Geddes’ lone run came in the sixth inning. 

Carter Lenz led the White Caps with a double, while Dakota Munger took the loss — pitching six innings, giving up eight runs. He struck out seven and walked two.  

Elk Point-Jefferson 5, Castlewood/Clear Lake 1 

REDFIELD — Keaton Gale struck out 10 as Elk Point-Jefferson stayed alive Saturday in an elimination game at the state Class B legion tournament on Saturday. 

Gale picked up the win — pitching 6 2/3 innings, giving up a run on five hits while throwing 106 pitches. 

Elk Point was led by Ty Trometer, who doubled in the first inning as Elk Point scored three runs in the second and added a run in the third and sixth innings. 

Lane Tvedt, Kegan Tvedt, Quincy Thu and Jerimah Wiersma each collected hits for Castlewood/Clear Lake. 

Booker Schooley took the loss, going five innings, giving up five runs on six hits. He struck out six and walked three on 105 pitches.
