RAPID CITY — Despite inclement weather across much of South Dakota the 45th annual Lakota Nation Invitational will continue as scheduled.

Lakota Nation Secretary Dani Walking Eagle said all of the basketball teams have arrived safely in Rapid City except for Dupree, which is planning on coming on Tuesday.

The wrestling tournament started on time Tuesday morning although meet officials say the championship matches will start at 3:00 p.m. vs. the 6:00 p.m. that was originally scheduled.

All of the schools and buses will gather at the Black Hills Harley Davidson at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. Those buses will be escorted to the Rushmore Civic Center by a unified law enforcement escort before arriving at the Rushmore Civic Center for the Community Welcome/Red Carpet Entry.

The basketball tournament is slated to start Wednesday morning. The event will be livestreamed at https://www.lakotanationinvitational.com/lni-streaming
