Lane Krautschun anchors Belle Fourche to a top Class A sprint medley relay time

BELLE FOURCHE — Belle Fourche’s Lane Krautschun anchored the Broncs’ sprint medley team to one of the top Class A times at Saturday’s Center of the Nation Invitational. 

The foursome of Kyren Nulie, Kash LaChuer, Gavin Peterson and Krautschun finished with a time of 3:44.86. Krautschun also logged a second-place finish in the 3,200-meter run (10:11.62). 

In other boys action, Lead-Deadwood’s James Burke earned three second-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (:11.08), 200-meter dash (:23.28) and 400-meter dash (:54.64).

Kadoka Area's Lincoln Koehn won the shot put (51-11.50) and discus (155-00) and Harding County’s Jarett Schuchard won the 110-meter hurdles (:16.32) and finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (:43.42). 

The Philip boys picked up a win from Trey Larson in the 800-meter run (2:08.22) and earned relay wins in the 800-meter relay (1:41.34) and 1,600-meter relay (3:48.41). 

Several outstanding marks from the Custer girls Saturday. Ciana Stiefel cleared (12-03) in the pole vault and Brit Wheeler won the 800-meter run (2:25.40).

The Lead-Deadwood girls had a strong day Saturday with Nikiah Black winning the 100-meter dash (:12.85) and finishing second in the 400-meter dash (1:02.91). Freshman Atty Eastman won the 300-meter hurdles (:49.76) 

In girls’ field event action, Rapid City Christian’s Kayla Dilka had one of the top throws in the Class A shot put with a mark of 38-07. Kadoka Area sophomore Landyn Koehn was third in the shot put (31-04.5) and won the discus (118-04).
