Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Jack Smith is the 2023-24 Gatorade South Dakota Football Player of the Year.

Smith is the third Gatorade South Dakota Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Lincoln High School. The award, which celebrates the nation’s top high school athletes for excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community, distinguishes Smith as South Dakota’s best high school football player.

The 6-foot-0, 190-pound senior wideout caught 72 passes for 1,171 yards and 21 touchdowns, leading the Patriots (12-0) to the Class 11AAA state championship. Smith added another 576 all-purpose yards and three scores as a returning specialist and running back. The two-time all-state selection will graduate as the state’s career leader in receptions and career receiving yards. He is also the Class 11AAA record-holder for single-game receiving yards, receptions and touchdown receptions.

Smith has maintained a weighted GPA of 4.09 in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football on scholarship at South Dakota State University this fall.
