SIOUX FALLS — Howard Wood Dakota Relays fans are in for a treat Friday evening for the Girls Special 800-meter run. The face features a heavy mix of South Dakota prep athletes that have dominated girls high school track and field and cross-country in South Dakota for the past few years.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton senior Berkeley Engelland and O’Gorman junior Libby Castelli participated in the 2022 Special 800 with Engelland (2:11.75) finishing second and Castelli finishing third (2:13.40).

The Howard Wood Dakota Relays record for the 800-meter run was set in 2005 by Laura Roesler of Fargo South High School (2:05.76).
