Mount Vernon/Plankinton's Berkeley Engelland has committed to the University of South Dakota track and field team. The Titan senior tweeted her intentions to be a Coyote on Friday.

Engelland is a multiple time state track and field champion. Last season, Engelland won the Class A 100 (:12.36), 200 (:26.12), 400 (:56.11) and 800-meter (2:13.51) events at the state track and field meet. 

She set the Class A state track and field meet record in the 400-meter dash (:54.96) in 2023 and 800-meter run (2:12.88) in 2022. She was the Gold Medal Award winner in the 200-meter dash (:26.12) and 400-meter dash (:56.11) last season. 

The award is given to an athlete with the best time of greatest distance in each event, regardless of class.  

As a sophomore, Engelland won the Class A 400-meter dash (:56.20) and 800-meter run (2:12.88) at state. She also won the Class A 400-meter dash (:58.28) and 800-meter run (2:21.41) at state her freshman season.
