Elk Point-Jefferson 21, Winner 16

WINNER — Elk Point-Jefferson’s Keaton Gale ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass as the defending Class 11B champions knocked off this year’s top-seed Winner. Elk Point-Jefferson will take on Hot Springs in the 11B state championship on Nov. 10 in Vermillion. 


Jacob Gale paced Elk Point-Jefferson Friday with 64 rushing yards. Keaton Gale had 30 rushing yards and a touchdown while Gunner Ewing finished with 19 rushing yards and a touchdown. Keaton Gale was 7-of-9 passing for 87 yards and one touchdown. Ashton Fairbanks caught the touchdown pass for Elk Point-Jefferson. 

Aiden Barfuss led Winner with 58 yards rushing and a touchdown. Quarterback Stratton Morehart completed 6-of-12 passes for 62 yards and one touchdown pass to Shawn Hammerbeck. 

Hot Springs 28, Rapid City Christian 10 

HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs pulled away from Rapid City Christian and advanced to the Class 11B state championship game on Friday. Hot Springs will play Elk Point-Jefferson on Nov. 10 in Vermillion. 

The Bison rushed for 346 yards against the Comets. 

Hot Springs’ Camron Maciejewski powered the Bison with 175 yards rushing on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns. Braden Peterson rushed for 144 yards and had a rushing touchdown. Colin Iverson had an interception on defense. 

Simon Kieffer completed 13 of 19 passes for 229 yards with one touchdown. Lars Kieffer hauled in three catches for 125 yards and a score. Wilson Kieffer added an interception for Christian.


Warner 37, Canistota 16

WARNER — Warner’s Hunter Cramer rushed for three touchdowns in a Class 9A semifinal win over Canistota.

Warner will play Deubrook Area in the state championship on Nov. 9 in Vermilion. 

Cramer scored on runs of 1, 2 and 7 yards, while he threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Brodey Sauerwein. Jesiah Baum added a touchdown run. 

Canistota’s Tage Ortman tossed a passing touchdown to Ty Doblar and also rushed for a touchdown run.

Deubrook Area 18, Philip 14

PHILIP — Deubrook Area outlasted Philip in a Class 9A semifinal thriller on Friday. 

Deubrook Area will play Warner in the state championship on Nov. 9 in Vermillion. 

Gavin Landmark rushed for a pair of touchdowns, while he also hauled in a touchdown reception from Jace Vomacka. Landmark finished with 187 yards rushing on 21 carries and Vomacka completed 5 of 8 passes for 125 yards. Jake Jorenby caught three catches for 83 yards.

Layton Terkildsen and Lane Kuchenbecker had rushing touchdowns for Philip, which mounted a fourth-quarter rally before its Hail Mary on the final play fell incomplete.


Faulkton Area 42, Potter County 0

FAULKTON — Faulkton Area blanked Potter County and advanced to the Class 9B state championship game on Friday.

The Trojans will play Avon for the state championship on Nov. 9 in Vermillion.

Faulkton Area’s Layne Cotton scored three rushing touchdowns, while he connected with Charlie Deiter for a 13-yard touchdown reception. Garrett Cramer and Landon Coyle added TD runs.


Dell Rapids 22, Sioux Falls Christian 14

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids held off Sioux Falls Christian in the Class 11A semifinals on Friday. The Quarriers will play West Central in the state championship on Nov. 10 in Vermillion.

Dell Rapids’ Mason Stubbe rushed for 161 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns. Jack Henry completed 6 of 9 passes for 82 yards. Cole Ruesink added 87 yards rushing on 15 carries, while he hauled in 35 yards receiving. 

Dell Rapids racked up 349 total yards. Sioux Falls Christian recorded 123 total yards.  

 

Pierre 35, Watertown 14

PIERRE — Pierre pulled past Watertown for a Class 11AA semifinal playoff win on Friday. Pierre will play Yankton in the state championship on Nov. 10 in Vermillion.

Pierre’s Cade Kaiser completed 14 of 21 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. Kaiser added a rushing touchdown, while Jett Zabel also scored a rushing score.

Trey Lewis added 159 rushing yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns. Tyan Buus hauled in 37 yards receiving. Chance Carda had six tackles. 

Watertown’s Spencer Wientjes hauled in a 47-yard touchdown pass from Treyton Himmerich, while Juven Hudson scored a 52-yard touchdown run.


Yankton 33, Tea Area 25

YANKTON — Yankton advanced to the Class 11AA state championship game on Friday. The Bucks will play Pierre in the state championship on Nov. 10 in Vermillion.

Yankton’s Lucas Kampshoff completed 14 of 25 passes for 282 yards and five passing touchdowns. He added 60 yards rushing. Tucker Gilmore hauled in 95 yards receiving and one touchdown reception. Carson Ness added 94 yards receiving and two touchdown catches. Matthew Sheldon and Austin Gobel hauled in touchdown catches. Shaylor Platt posted 14 tackles.

For Tea Area, Brenner Konrad rushed for 106 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns. Keegan DeYoung rushed for 98 yards, while Sam Werdel had 91 yards rushing and one touchdown. Konrad passed for 55 yards and a touchdown pass to Werdel. Werdel added six tackles.
