Wall 62, Castlewood 12

WALL — Wall rolled past Castlewood for a Class 9A quarterfinal victory on Thursday. Wall will face No. 4 Wolsey-Wessington in the Class 9A semifinals on Nov. 8.

Canistota 16, Avon 8

AVON — No. 8 seed Canistota stunned No. 1 Avon in Class 9B quarterfinal action on Thursday.

Canistota’s Brady Scott scored a 25-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to break an 8-8 tie. Scott threw a two-point conversion pass to Levi Schroeder for the final margin. 

Canistota’s Easton Miller hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Scott in the third quarter. Scott rushed for 65 yards on 10 carries. Miller added 52 yards rushing on 12 carries, while Prayden Acheson posted 50 rushing yards. Scott completed three passes for 72 yards, while Schroeder had 39 yards receiving. Miller and Schroeder both had interceptions on defense. Miller had 9.5 tackles on defense. 

Avon’s Aziah Meyer rushed for 193 yards on 31 carries and had a four-yard rushing touchdown. Landon Mudder rushed for 60 yards on 15 carries. Mudder posted 10 tackles. 

Canistota plays at Sully Buttes in the Class 9B semifinals on Nov. 8.

Dell Rapids St. Mary 36, Kadoka Area 0

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids St. Mary blanked Kadoka Area in Thursday’s Class 9B quarterfinal action on Thursday.

Jake Heinitz and Trimmier Hanson scored two rushing touchdowns apiece. Lincoln LeBrun added a rushing touchdown. 

Dell Rapids St. Mary will play Faulkton Area in the Class 9B semifinals on Nov. 8.


Parkston 40, Leola-Frederick 6

PARKSTON — Kolter Kramer tallied 182 of Parkston's 401 rushing yards as the top-ranked Trojans defeated Leola-Frederick in Thursday’s high school football Class 9AA quarterfinals.

Kramer carried the ball 16 times for 182 yards and two rushing touchdowns, Kaden Holzbauer had 32 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, Johnny Weber added 67 yards and a score on six carries, Carter Sommer had just two rushes for 10 yards and a touchdown, Zach Thuringer carried the ball 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, while Maxan Bax racked up 65 yards on four carries in the win.

LF’s Noah Kippley completed nine-of-15 pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown, Ethan Petrich caught three passes for 28 yards, Gavin Nickelson caught four passes for 33 yards, while Westyn Thorpe caught seven for 53 yards in the loss.

Parkston will play Freeman-Marion-Freeman Academy in the 9AA semifinals on Nov. 8.


Elkton-Lake Benton 46, Hanson 21

ELKTON — Eliot Erickson, Tanner Stein, and Colt Beck combined for 387 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns as the Elks defeated Hanson during Thursday’s Class 9AA quarterfinals.

Erickson rushed 13 times for 109 yards and a touchdown, Stein had 205 yards and four rushing scores on just 16 carries, while Beck added 73 yards and two scores on 12 carries. Beck alo completed 5-of-9 passes for 100 yards, with Stein catching two passes for 36 yards and Tanner Drietz reeling in a pass for 36 yards as well. Stein led all Elk tacklers with eight.

Hanson’s Esten Schlimgen completed nine-of-24 pass attempts for 120 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, Stetson Riggs carried the ball 13 times for 89 yards, Sutton Dewald had 23 yards and touchdown on nine carries, while Weston Kayser caught five passes for 50 yards in the loss. Radek Jarding caught a 13-yard touchdown, while Jason Porth reeled in a 22-yard touchdown in the loss as well.

ELB will play at No. 2 Hamlin in the 9AA semifinals on Nov. 8.


St. Thomas More 38, Mount Vernon-Plankinton 34

MOUNT VERNON — Ryan Neugebauer’s late-game touchdown catch helped seal the upset as Class 11B No. 11 Cavaliers defeated No. 3 Mount Vernon-Plankinton during Thursday’s quarterfinal action.

Neugebauer caught seven passes for 82 yards and a score in the win, Kain McLeod caught four passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns, Noah Wald completed 21-of-41 pass attempts for 306 yards, while Josh Elder led the rushing attack with 90 yards on nine carries.

MVP’s Brady Fox had 113 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, Kyle Sandland had 101 yards and a score on nine carries, while Isaiah Olson added 77 yards in just eight carries in the loss.

St. Thomas More will play at Winner in the Class 11B semifinals on Nov. 8. 


Sioux Falls Christian 58, Rapid City Christian 23

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Christian coasted past Rapid City Christian for a Class 11A quarterfinal victory on Thursday.

Rapid City Christian’s Simon Kieffer completed 10-of-17 passes for 119 yards passing and one touchdown. He also ran for 88 yards on 12 attempts. Peyton Glenn passed for 41 yards with one passing touchdown. Isaiah Coyle had two receptions for 46 yards and a receiving touchdown. Henry Koppmann had two receptions for 26 yards and a receiving touchdown. Sully Kieffer had 35 yards receiving. 

Defensively, Reagan Koskan had 10 tackles. Reed Lindberg had nine tackles, while Malachai Maseman had nine tackles and one sack. Lars Kieffer had five tackles with one sack and an 80- yard interception returned for a score.

Sioux Falls Christian will play West Central in the Class 11A semifinals on Nov. 8. 


Sioux Valley 41, Mobridge-Pollock 7

VOLGA — Donovan Rose reached the end zone three times as the top-ranked Sioux Valley Cossacks defeated Mobridge-Pollock during Thursday’s Class 11B quarterfinals.

Rose carried the ball 13 times for 146 yards and three rushing touchdowns, Mitchell Guthmiller had four carries for 72 yards, while Brock Christopherson added 66 yards on 10 carries, including one rushing score. Christopherson, Wyatt Nelson, and Braden Teske each had seven tackles in the win as well.

Mobridge-Pollock’s Mack Saxon had 17 carries for 69 yards, while Peter Fried totaled 34 yards and a score on seven carries. Sam Schneider completed eight passes for 116 yards. Carter Hinsz tallied nine tackles to lead the Tiger defense in the loss.

Sioux Valley will face No. 4 Elk Point-Jefferson in the 11B semifinals on Nov. 8.


Winner 44, Woonsocket-Wessington Springs-Sanborn Central 0

WINNER — Winner’s rushing attack racked up over 368 yards as the No. 2 Warriors took down Woonsocket-Wessington Springs-Sanborn Central during Thursday’s high school football quarterfinals.

Karson Keiser led the rushing attack totaling 124 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries while recording three interceptions on defense, Eli Vobr added 97 yards and a touchdown on six carries while completing both pass attempts for 25 yards and a passing touchdown, Zac Olson added 41 yards on five carries, Breven Bolander reached the end zone twice on seven carries adding 40 yards, Orel Ryken had eight touches for 32 yards, while Ash Kaiser added a rushing touchdown. Zac Olson caught the lone passing score from 25 yards out.

The Blackhawks’ Holden Havlik completed nine-of-28 pass attempts for 78 yards and three interceptions, Eddy Tyson rushed six times for 26 yards, Wesley Molnar had 19 yards on three carries, while Karter Mebius led the defense in tackles with eight.

Winner will face No. 11 St. Thomas More in the Class 11B semifinals on Nov. 8.


Elk Point-Jefferson 41, Clark-Willow Lake 8

ELK POINT — Keaton Gale tossed 250 yards and two passing touchdowns as Class 11B No. 4 Elk Point-Jefferson defeated No. 5 Clark-Willow Lake during Thursday’s quarterfinal action.

Gale completed 11-of-13 pass attempts for 250 yards and two touchdowns, Grayson Girard caught six passes for 69 yards while Ashton Fairbanks reeled in four for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Gunnar Ewing and Girard led the rushing attack for the Huskies, with Ewing adding 31 yards and three scores on 10 carries while Girard totaled 25 yards and a score in the win as well.

CWL’s Griffin Musser totaled 56 yards and a score on 16 carries, while Emmerson Larson cracked 14 carries for 69 yards. Joey Reis completed seven passes for 48 yards, with Musser catching four for 23 yards and Larson reeling in two passes for 24 yards in the loss.

EPJ will play at top-seeded Sioux Valley in the 11B semifinals on Nov. 8.


West Central 14, Madison 6

HARTFORD — Aiden Bartmann totaled 167 yards on the ground as the No. 4 Trojans defeated Class 11A No. 5 Madison during Thursday’s high school football quarterfinals.

Bartmann ran the ball 30 times for 167 yards and a touchdown, Carter Gross added 27 yards on six carries, Keaton Vessells had 17 yards on nine carries, including a touchdown, while Evan Jaton tallied 16 rushing yards on four carries.

Madison’s Ben Brooks carried the ball 13 times for 140 yards and a touchdown, Cohen Hahn completed 7-of-13 pass attempts for 47 yards, while Brooks caught three passes for 29 yards in the loss.

West Central will play at Sioux Falls Christian in the Class 11A semifinals on Nov. 8. 


Brookings 23, Tea Area 13

BROOKINGS — Class 11AA No. 3 Brookings’ Will Conrad pounded out 124 yards on the ground as the Bobcats defeated No. 6 Tea Area in the quarter finals.

Conrad carried the ball 12 times for 124 yards and a touchdown, Gavin Anderson had six carries for 46 yards, while Ben Schulte totaled 40 yards and a score on 11 carries. Anderson completed 4-of-6 pass attempts for 96 yards and a passing touchdown, Jay Harris had a 65-yard catch-and-run, while Dagi Thomas caught a 25-yard touchdown in the win. Bergen Tetzlaff and Gabriel Stern patrolled the defense with 12 and 11 tackles, respectively, each recording one tackle for loss.

Tea Area’s Tyle Rhead rushed 14 times for 84 yards, Cole McKinney added 42 yards on 10 carries, while Carter Brown had 37 yards and a score on nine carries. Grifin Wiebenga recorded eight tackles, Parker Wilson had six, while Chase DeBoer and Kade Korleski each had five tackles in the loss.

Brookings will play at No. 2 Watertown next week in the Class 11AA semifinals on Nov. 8
