Oct. 4 Football Roundup - Rapid City Central clips Sioux Falls Washington, snaps 29-game losing streak

Rapid City Central 3, Sioux Falls Washington 0

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Central snapped its 29-game losing streak on Friday night. 

Triston Ducheneaux’s 25-yard field goal with 4:31 left lifted Rapid City Central past Sioux Falls Washington, giving the Cobblers their first win since Sept. 10, 2021. 

Sioux Falls Washington’s potential game-tying 33-yard field goal with 1:09 left was no good. 

It was Rapid City Central’s first win over Sioux Falls Washington since 2013, snapping an eight-game losing skid against the Warriors. 


Harding County/Bison 26, Dupree 14

BISON — Class 9A No. 5 Harding County/Bison outscored Dupree 12-6 in the second half to pick up a Friday high school football win.

Harding County/Bison’s Hayden Pihl completed 10 of 16 passes for 163 yards and threw three passing touchdowns. Rylee Veal finished with 101 rushing yards on 22 carries and scored a touchdown. Kaden Green caught three catches for 48 yards and hauled in two touchdown receptions. Nayati Bickerdyke hauled in 55 yards receiving and a touchdown reception. Evan Meyer had 52 yards receiving. Lincoln Wickstrom had 13 tackles, while Eugenio Martinez added 12 tackles. Wickstrom and Martinez each had sacks. 

For Dupree, Braydon Terveen-Smith rushed for 141 yards on 19 carries and scored a touchdown. Terveen-Smith added 26 receiving yards. Roper Eaton added 58 yards rushing and a touchdown. Eaton had 38 passing yards. Tre White Wolf rushed for 43 yards. Fletcher Birkeland had 10 tackles. Tee Birkeland, Braydon Terveen-Smith and Hudson Terveen-Smith added sacks. 


Winner 16, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 0

MOUNT VERNON — Class 11B No. 1 Winner blanked Class 11B No. 5 Mount Vernon/Plankinton to improve to 6-0 in high school football action on Friday.

Winner’s Eli Vober threw a 31-yard touchdown strike to Karson Keiser, breaking a 0-0 third-quarter tie. Keiser added a 19-yard touchdown run for the game’s other score.


Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central 62, Miller/Highmore-Harrold 20

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Class 11B No. 4 Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central pulled away from Miller/Highmore-Harrold for a Friday high school football win.

Holden Havlik completed 4-of-12 passes for 101 yards and a passing touchdown. Havlik added four carries for 107 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Grant Edwards had a 56-yard rushing touchdown, two kickoff returns for touchdowns and a 97-yard pick-six. Wesley Molnar added a 25-yard rushing score. Tyson Eddy had 53 yards rushing on six carries. Ryder Michalek had 72 yards receiving and a touchdown reception, while he added an interception on defense. Kolby Flowers added an interception and a fumble recovery on defense.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold stats were not reported. 


Howard 36, Hanson 6

HOWARD — Class 9A No. 1 Howard rushed past Hanson for a Friday night high school football win. The Tigers rushed for 275 yards and scored all five touchdowns on the ground. 

Howard’s Tate Miller finished with 200 yards rushing on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns. Weston Remmers added 75 yards rushing on 10 carries and scored a touchdown. Carson Hinker passed for 45 yards and Luke Koepsell hauled in 21 yards receiving. Calvin Halvorsen had nine tackles.

For Hanson, Stetson Riggs scored a five-yard touchdown run. Riggs finished with 67 yards rushing on six carries. Esten Schlimgen passed for 91 yards and Sutton Dewald had 48 yards receiving.

Avon 30, Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian 26

ARMOUR — Class 9B No. 1 Avon outlasted Class 9AA No. 5 Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian for a Friday high school football win. 

Avon trailed 12-0 at halftime and scored all 30 of its points in the second half to remain undefeated. Avon’s Aziah Meyer finished with 139 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns, including a 65-yard touchdown run. Landon Mudder added 100 yards rushing and a touchdown. 

For the Thunderhawks, Sabas DeHaan had 128 yards rushing and a touchdown run. Garth Maas added 115 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Hunter Loeffler added 69 yards on the ground.


Sioux Valley 31, Flandreau 13

FLANDREAU — Class 11B No. 2 Sioux Valley built a 31-point lead to take down Flandreau during Friday’s football action.

Donavon Rose carried the ball 17 times for 102 yards, including a 97-yard kick return touchdown, Brock Christopherson had 87 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, while throwing a 66-yard touchdown on his lone completion to Mitchell Guthmiller.

Flandreau’s Paul Parsley completed 11-of-24 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown, Alexavier Poitra had 22 yards and a score on four carries, while Luke Sheppard caught a 5-yard touchdown in the loss for the Fliers.


Kimball/White Lake 49, Stanley County 0

FORT PIERRE — Iden Meyers rushed for 120 yards and Kimball/White Lake blanked Stanley County in Friday high school football action.

Meyers finished with 17 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns. Keaton Christensen completed five passes for 89 yards and scored two touchdown passes. Park Sinclair had 24 yards passing. Lucas Lenz hauled in 54 yards receiving and a touchdown. Carter Konechne added an 11-yard touchdown catch.

Carter Konechne had seven tackles followed by Lenz with five tackles. Dayn Goodman had two interceptions and Graden Holan had a 28-yard interception return for a score. 


Elkton-Lake Benton 49, Garretson 0

GARRETSON — Class 9AA No. 3 Elkton-Lake Benton blanked Garretson in Friday high school football action. 

ELB’s Colt Beck completed 5-of-8 passes for 125 yards and two touchdown passes. Eliot Erickson rushed for 100 yards on six carries and scored a touchdown. Tanner Stein added 93 yards rushing on three carries and scored a touchdown. Colt Beck had 72 yards rushing and scored a touchdown. Kaleb Larson added a rushing touchdown. Tanner Drietz hauled 73 yards receiving and two touchdown receptions. Savnio Stephens added 32 yards receiving and Erickson posted 20 yards receiving. Quintin Westley posted nine tackles and three sacks. Teigan Krog had nine tackles, while Erickson and Beck had eight tackles apiece. 

For Garretson, Cole Schleuter had 15 yards rushing. Chase Arend passed for 53 yards, while Joshua Gilbert hauled in 23 yards receiving.

McCook Central/Montrose 36, Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 28

BRIDGEWATER — McCook Central/Montrose rallied from a 20-6 halftime deficit to pick up a Friday high school football win over Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan. 

MCM’s Lane Deutsch scored four total touchdowns to power the comeback win. Deutsch caught a 52-yard pass from Ben Wiebesick, rushed for 176 yards on the ground and scored three rushing touchdowns. He added 52 yards receiving and 11 tackles. MCM’s Owen Schmidt added a touchdown run.

For BEE, Macklen Weber had 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while hauling in 43 yards receiving. Holden Wollmann threw for 96 yards and threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Luke Storm. Wollmann added a rushing touchdown. 


Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 68, Centerville 13 

CENTERVILLE — Riley Tschetter and Dominic Sperling powered Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy to a Friday high school football win over Centerville. 

Tschetter completed 8-of-9 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns. Sperling rushed for 216 yards on seven carries and scored four touchdowns. Chris Aasen hauled in two touchdown receptions, while Luke Peters posted 75 yards receiving and a touchdown catch. Peters had eight tackles and four sacks.

For Centerville, Alec Austin completed 30-of-48 passes for 373 yards and one touchdown. Austin added a rushing touchdown. Jase Brouwer hauled in 10 catches for 109 yards and a score. 

 

Castlewood 54, Waverly-South Shore 3

WAVERLY — Camron Eng rushed for five touchdowns as Castlewood picked up a Friday high school football win over Waverly-South Shore.

Eng finished with 183 yards on 19 carries and Castlewood rushed for 302 yards on 28 carries. Kamden Keszler and Brody Bass added rushing touchdowns. 

Zach Ries passed for 126 yards to lead the Coyotes. Wyatt Taecker hit a 47-yard field goal for Waverly-South Shore’s lone points of the game.


Corsica-Stickney 44, Sunshine Bible Academy 0

MILLER — Waylon Bolle powered Corsica-Stickney to a Friday afternoon football win over Sunshine Bible Academy.

Bolle finished with 188 yards rushing on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns. Caden Baumiller added 93 yards rushing on three carries and scored two touchdowns. Max Vanden Hoek connected with Tate Tolsma for a 45-yard touchdown strike. Sawyer Schmidt tallied nine tackles on defense. 

The Jaguars rushed for 303 yards on 39 carries. Vanden Hoek and Baumiller each had interceptions. 

Sunshine Bible Academy’s Carter Crump rushed for 18 yards on nine carries. Hunter Sybesma and Toby Mickelson had 10 tackles apiece. 


Rapid City Christian 53, Lakota Tech 0

RAPID CITY — Braylon Marshall reached the century mark on the ground as Rapid City Christian blanked Lakota Tech in high school football action Friday.

Marshall tallied 101 yards on five carries including two rushing touchdowns, including eight tackles on defense. Wes Schlabach had one rushing and one receiving touchdown, Sully Kieffer and Victor Enriquez each had rushing scores. Simon Kieffer completed all four pass attempts for 52 yards and two passing touchdowns.

Lakota Tech’s stats were not reported.


Milbank 42, Sisseton 0

MILBANK — Three touchdowns from Braylen Bowsher helped Milbank blank Sisseton in Friday night high school football action. 

Brochure finished with seven carries for 56 yards and the three touchdowns. Owen Tesch led Milbank with 75 rushing yards and a touchdown and Tate Schlueter had 41 yards and a rushing touchdown. Lincoln Holscher tossed a touchdown pass to Jaxon Wiese. Jesse Schneck led the defense with four tackles, a sack and three tackles for loss. 

Sisseton was led by Boe Iverson who had four yards rushing and Jackson Wegener who passed for 29 yards. Holden Hawkins led the defense with three tackles. 


Madison 21, Tri-Valley 12

MADISON — Ben Brooks two-touchdown performance lifts Madison over Tri Valley in high school football action.

Brooks carried the ball 17 times for 73 yards and a touchdown, while catching two passes for 41 yards and a score as well. Caleb Hodges ran the ball 10 times for 67 yards and a score, Myles Schneider tallied five catches for 95 yards, while Shane Veenhof had five catches for 46 yards as well. Cohen Hahn completed 13 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown in the win as well.

Tri-Valley’s Brody Dybvig had 18 carries, 91 yards and a rushing touchdown, Brechen Frederick tallied 69 yards and a score on just nine carries. Brady Jewitt completed four of seven pass attempts for 48 yards and an interception in the loss.


Brookings 29, Tea Area 22

BROOKINGS — Gavin Anderson threw for 215 yards and a score as Class 11AA No. 2 Brookings took down Class 11AA No. 4 Tea Area during Friday’s football action.

Anderson completed 10-of-17 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown pass, Bergan Tetzlaff reeled in five passes for 102 yards and a touchdown including 13 tackles on defense, Alex Wainman tallied two catches for 72 yards, Will Conrad ran the ball 24 times for 75 yards, while Gabriel Stern recorded 15 tackles defensively in the win. Phoenix Sather had 11 tackles in the victory as well.

Tea Area’s Cole McKinney ran 13 times for 88 yards, Daschie Lowery completed 4-of-15 passes for 50 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. Riley Svanda caught two passes for 28 yards and score, while Sam Werdel reeled in a 13-yard touchdown in the loss. Chase DeBoer recorded eight tackles and a sack, including 1.5 tackles for loss as well.
