Philip Scotties shine in boys distance events at Harry Weller Invitational

KADOKA — The Philip boys shined in the distance events at Tuesday’s Harry Weller Invitational. 

Philip’s Trey Larson won the 800-meter run (2:10.67) and Baylor Burns won the 1,600-meter run (4:55.24). The 3,200-meter relay team of Trey Larson, Baylor Burns, Tukker Boe and Wakely Burns won with a time of 8:42.90. Wakely Burns placed second in the 800-meter run (2:11.07). Tukker Boe finished second in the 1,600-meter run (4:56.38). 

White River’s Ethan Watson and Kadoka Area’s Lincoln Koehn separated themselves from the Class B pack in the shot put, both logging throws more than 57 feet. 

Watson won with a throw of 58-04, edging Koehn (57-03.75) for the title. Watson also earned a win in the discus (154-06). 

Bennett County’s Rush O’Neill won three individual titles on Tuesday. O’Neill won the 200-meter dash (:23.88), the 110-meter hurdles (:15.95) and the high jump (6-2). 

Jones County’s Kaden Kinsley won the 400-meter dash (:53.88) and ran a leg on the Coyotes winning 800-meter relay (1:38.29).

In girls action, Jones County’s BreAna Aske won the 200-meter dash (:28.82) and the long jump (16-01.50). Aske finished second in the 400-meter dash (1:04.69) and ran a leg on the first place 1600-meter relay team (4:58.91).

Mahpiya Luta’s Ashlan Carlow-Blount won the 300-meter hurdles (:47.92) and 400-meter dash (1:03.11). Her teammate Rarity Cournoyer won the 800-meter run (2:35.12) and the 1,600-meter run (5:45.61). 

Bennett County’s Peyson O’Neill won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.92) and the high jump (5-00). She also finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (:48.41).
