Philip boys, Jones County girls earn Western Great Plains Conference titles

MURDO — The Philip boys and Jones County girls dominated action at Wednesday’s Western Great Plains Invitational run on the Murdo Golf Course. 

It was a sea of orange coming across the line in the boys race as Philip claimed the top-five places. Jack Peterson 17:17 edged Baylor Burns (17:54) and Trey Larson (17:57). Philip teammates David McKinley (18:01) and Creston Burns (18:09) rounded out the top-five. 

Jones County’s BreAna Aske won the girls race in 21:51, well ahead of Wall’s Taylee Dartt (24:08) and Jones County’s Aubrey Tucker. Molly Nix of Jones County (25:40) and Lacy Reinert of Wall (26:02) rounded out the top five girls.

Philip easily won the boys race with six points, ahead of White RIver (21) and Kadoka Area (34). The Jones County girls won the team race with six points.
