Plattte-Geddes boys run well at SCC Conference Meet

PLATTE — The Platte-Geddes boys shook off the winter doldrums, laying down some terrific running performances on their home track on Thursday. 

Black Panther senior Skyler Hanten had a big day winning the 100-meter dash (:11.68), finishing third in the 200-meter dash (:24.14), winning the long jump (19-09) and running a leg on the winning 400-meter relay team (:45.45).

Other Platte-Geddes winners were Carson Vanden Berge in the 200-meter dash (:23.78), Quincy Stephens in the 400-meter dash (:54.65) and Walter Graesser in the 800-meter run (2:10.91). The running translated to the relays where the 400-meter relay (:45.45), 800-meter relay (1:37.87), 1,600-meter relay (3:46) all won as well as Gabe Fite in the 300-meter hurdles (:45.36). Other Platte-Geddes winners were Parker Bailey in the pole vault (11-00) and Jack Ringling in the discus (133-8.75). 

Defending Class B champion Gregory had a handful of winners on the boys side. Daniel Mitchell won the high jump (6-03), Rylan Peck the javelin (144-07) and Trey Murray in the shot put (43-02). 

On the track the Gorillas won titles in the 3,200-meter relay (9:13.13) and the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:00.98). Junior Finn Adams won the 1,600 meter run (4:50.55). 

The Burke girls had a strong day on the track and in the field. Breckynn Pistulka won the 100-meter dash (:13.24) and the 200-meter dash (:27.79). The quartet of Braelyn Duerfeldt, Abby Hood, Pistulka and Piper Hanson won the 800-meter relay (1:51.08) and the 1,600-meter sprint medley team of Duerfeldt, Pistulka, Hanson and Kailee Frank won (4:43.75).

Hanson won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.57) and the 300-meter hurdles (48.98). Paige Bull won the shot put (31-1) and the discus (122-02).

For Gregory, Asia VanDerWerff won the 800-meter run (2:26.54) and ran on the Gregory 1,600 meter relay team (VanDerWerff, Dani VanDerWerff, Adelyn Veskrna and Regan Graesser) that won Thursday (4:30.42). Gregory junior Ashlyn Vosika also won the javelin (98-09).

Kimball/White Lake’s Autumn Baker won the 1,600-meter run (5:30.57) and the 3,200-meter run (12:01.99).
