EUGENE, Ore. — Rapid City Stevens graduate and University of Oregon runner Simeon Birnbaum earned first-team All-American honors at the NCAA Division I outdoor track and field meet on Friday, June 13.
Birnbaum placed seventh in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 3-minutes and :47.64 seconds. Washington’s Nathan Green won the race in 3:47.26, while the second-through-11th runners all finished between 3:47.33 and 3:47.94.
With his seventh-place finish, Birnbaum secured first-team All-American honors. In NCAA track and field, the top-8 finishers are considered first-team All-Americans, while those placing 9th-16th are considered second-team All-Americans.
