Mount Vernon/Plankinton 52, Rapid City Christian 21

RAPID CITY — Class 11B No. 5 Mount Vernon/Plankinton exploded for 552 total yards, including 490 rushing yards, and cruised past Rapid City Christian for a high school football win on Saturday.

MVP’s Christopher Mayer led with 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns on nine carries, while Reed Rus tallied 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Rus also passed for 62 yards. Drew Gerlach and Brady Fox rushed for 85 and 82 yards, respectively. Gerlach, Fox, and Austin Hauge had one rushing touchdown apiece. Rylan Bush had six tackles and one sack, while Blaine Bohr added an interception on defense.

RC Christian was led by Elijah Hoyt with 119 yards receiving and one touchdown, while Sam Fischer had a hand in two touchdowns, one rushing and one passing. Simon Kieffer passed for 93 yards, while Benson Kieffer added an 80 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.


Winner 44, Lead-Deadwood 0

WINNER — Class 11B No. 1 Winner racked up 378 total yards as the Warriors raced past Lead-Deadwood for a high school football win on Saturday. The Warriors recorded 323 rushing yards as a team.

Winner was led by Jack Peters with 89 rushing yards and one touchdown, while Blake Volmer recorded 80 yards rushing and one score. Volmer also added 55 yards passing and one touchdown pass. Aiden Barfuss tallied 46 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while Karson Keiser added one score. Ethan Bartels led with 39 yards receiving and one touchdown. Stratton Morehart tallied 5.5 tackles, while Jude Sargent added an interception.

Lead-Deadwood was led by Sam Kooima with 80 yards rushing and 38 yards passing. The Golddiggers were held to 157 total yards.
