Seven South Dakotans sign with Dakota Wesleyan University football team

The Dakota Wesleyan University football announced 24 signees on national signing day, including seven from South Dakota. 

The seven future Tigers include: Colton Brady (Stanley County), Carson Reitz (Estelline), Delbert Peters Jr., (Pine Ridge), Steven Christion (Lennox), Domonic Ghost Bear (Pine Ridge), Payton Chasing Hawk (Hitchcock-Tulare) and Mason Schaefer (Parker). 

Stanley County’s Colton Brady rushed for 1,091 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023, and in 2024, he had 10 rushing touchdowns. 

Carson Reitz recorded 81 tackles and forced two fumbles in 2024. On offense as a QB, he threw for 1,083 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 175 yards and three touchdowns

Delbert Peters Jr., had 98 tackles, 17 sacks and five forced fumbles his senior season. Peters was named the All-Nations Football Conference Class 9A state championship defensive MVP in 2024. 

Steven Christion was an all-conference and all-state selection for Lennox. He’s a transfer from Northwestern College. 

Domonic Ghost Bear finished with 1,556 receiving yards with 25 touchdowns for Pine Ridge in 2024. Domonic was selected as an all-conference wide receiver and was named a first-team all-state selection. 

Payton Chasing Hawk totaled 46 tackles, three interceptions and one pick-six for Hitchcock-Tulare in 2024. 

Mason Schaefer posted 31 tackles and 2.5 sacks for Parker in 2024.
