Sioux Falls Christian sweeps Baltic Last Chance Meet

BALTIC — Sioux Falls Christian swept the team titles at Thursday’s Baltic Last Chance Meet.

The Sioux Falls Christian girls erupted for 249.5 points, well ahead of second-place Dell Rapids (97) and third-place Milbank (94).

The Sioux Falls Christian boys scored 187 points, ahead of Milbank (133) and West Central (119).

In girls action, Sioux Falls Christian’s Mya VanDonge won the 200-meter dash (:26.71), ahead of teammate Emory Lems (:27.39). 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Ellie Maddox won the 800-meter run (2:14.50), ahead of teammates Anna Vyn (2:15.07) and Natalie Smith (2:22.47). 

In the 1,600-meter run, Corinne Braun won in 4:54.99, while teammates Sadie Pettengill (5:04.86) and Smith (5:11.84) were just off the pace. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Halle Braun won the 300-meter hurdles (:44.66), ahead of teammates Nealie Stanford (:47.03) and Tori Gassen (:49.23). 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Rylee Punt won the pole vault (11-9) and Sioux Falls Christian’s Ashlee VanDriesen won the long jump (17-1.5). 

The Sioux Falls Christian girls won the 400-meter relay (:49.14), 800-meter relay (1:43.88), 1,600-meter relay (4:01.59) and 3,200-meter relay (10:13.88). 

Milbank’s Siera Wenzl won the 400-meter dash (1:00.69) and Milbank’s Bianca Berry won the 3,200-meter run (12:37.20).

Baltic’s Maiya Fredrickson won the shot put (36-7.25), discus (115-10) and placed third in the javelin (79-2). 

Tri-Valley’s Emry Jones won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.67) and Tri-Valley’s Lauren Grinde won the javelin (115-3).  

Madison’s Audrey Nelson cleared 5-5 to win the high jump and Madison’s Lydia Nelson won the triple jump (35-1.5). 

Dell Rapids’ Sophia Godwin won the 100-meter dash (:12.90).

In boys action, 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Bennett Wassenaar won the 800-meter run (1:57.25) and teammate Simon Roelofs won the 3,200-meter run (10:23.45). Wassenaar ran the anchor leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay (3:27.82). 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Paul Hoekman won the shot put (59-9.25), ahead of teammate Marcus Furth (50-5.75). Hoekman also won the discus (156-8), ahead of teammates Elijah Mulder (138-11) and Nick Popkes (137-7). 

Dell Rapids’ Mason Stubbe won the 100-meter dash (:11.36), the long jump (21-3.5) and ran the lead leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:43.36). 

Baltic’s Payton Anderson won the 200-meter dash (:22.63). Tri-Valley’s Landyn Reiser won the 400-meter dash (:55.43) 

Milbank’s Payton Brown won the 1,600-meter run (4:25.44), ahead of teammate James Batchelor (4:26.48). 

West Central’s Liam Schmeichel earned a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (:14.74), the high jump (5-11) and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (:41.35). 

Milbank’s Emmett Hanson won the 300-meter hurdles (:40.71) and placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.42). 

West Central’s Crew Heier won the javelin (140-7). Milbank’s Jayden Johnson cleared 13-3 to win the pole vault and teammate Samuel Rick won the triple jump (40-8.75). 

The West Central boys won the 800-meter relay (1:31.70) and sprint medley relay (3:38.50).
