Sioux Valley boys, De Smet girls win team titles at Vince Relays

ELKTON — The Sioux Valley boys and De Smet girls won team titles at Saturday’s Vince Relays. The Cossack boys finished with 199.5 points, ahead of Flandreau (189) and Elkton-Lake Benton (134.5). The Bulldog girls totaled 222 points, ahead of Flandreau (150) and Sioux Valley (85). 

In boys action, Sioux Valley’s Wyatt Nelson captured first-place finishes in the shot put (39-8), discus (115-3) and javelin (132-5.25). 

Sioux Valley’s Donovan Rose won the 110-meter hurdles (:17.07) and teamed up with Jakob Guthmiller, Carson Wosje and Mitchell Guthmiller to win the 800-meter relay (1:33.49). Brock Christopherson, Carson Wosje, Brady Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller won the 3,200-meter relay (8:44.81). Christopherson won the 800-meter run (2:11.02). 

In the high jump, Mitchell Guthmiller (6-0) and Jakob Guthmiller (5-8) placed first and second, respectively. Sioux Valley’s Braden Danzeisen won the triple jump (40-7.25) and placed second in the long jump (19-4.25). 

De Smet’s Rogan Albrecht won the 100-meter dash (:11.74) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:23.92). Albrecht, Ganon Henrich, Noah Luethmers and Owen Anderson were on the winning 400-meter relay team (:47.45). The same quartet finished second in the 800-meter relay (1:40.36). 

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Nate Timm was a double winner in the 1,600-meter run (5:06.39) and 3,200-meter run (11:12.61). ELB’s Eliot Erickson won the pole vault (11-0) and 300-meter hurdles (:43.65). 

In girls action, De Smet’s Gemma Luethmers won the 100-meter dash (:14.51) and placed second in the long jump (13-7). 

De Smet’s Cambria Gross won the 3,200-meter run (14:52.97) and placed second in the 1,600-meter run (6:41.67). De Smet’s Adalyn Gross, Cambria Gross, Aubree Blue and Bella Wilkinson won the 3,200-meter relay (11:41.28). Emery Hunt, Izy Bendorf, Vada Albrecht and Aubree Blue won the sprint medley relay (5:07.40). Adalyn Gross won the long jump (15-9.5). 

De Smet’s Charli McCune won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.35) and 300-meter hurdles (:48.30). Audi Currier won the discus (108-9) and teammate Ivey Schoenfelder placed second (104-0). De Smet’s Mirra Beck won the high jump (4-4). 

Flandreau’s Josie Hamilton won the 1,600-meter run (6:02.28) and placed second in the 800-meter run (2:39.12). 

Flandreau won the 800-meter relay (1:53.41) and 1,600-meter relay (4:25.34).
