Six South Dakotans to play in Native American High School Football All-Star Game

FRISCO, Texas — Six South Dakotans will play in the 2025 Native American High School Football All-Star Game in January. The contest, which will feature 70 Native American athletes from across the United States, is Jan. 7, 2025, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

The teams will be split into Team Buffalo and Team Wolf. The South Dakotans on Team Buffalo are Dupree’s Noah Little Wounded (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe) and Todd County’s Ty Valandra (Rosebud Sioux Tribe). The South Dakota players on Team Wolf are Hitchcock-Tulare’s Payton Chasing Hawk (Rosebud Sioux Tribe), Pine Ridge’s Daniel Davis (Oglala), Lakota Tech’s Davonte Ross (Oglala) and Little Wound’s Tristen Trejo (Oglala). 

Organized by the Native American Athletic Foundation (NAAF) in collaboration with the National Football League and Nike, the event will spotlight top talent while fostering growth on and off the field for an immersive experience.

From Jan. 3-7, 2025, participants will receive elite coaching, preparation for college athletics, leadership training, life skills and positive coping tools, all designed to inspire and prepare them for future success.

Nike will be providing the uniforms for the all-star game and camp.
