South Dakota produces 10 All-Americans from Heartland Duals

COUNCIL BLUFFS,  IOWA — It was a busy and successful first weekend for South Dakota USA Wrestling, which competed in the Heartland Dual Wrestling Tournament on March 29-30.

Ten wrestlers were undefeated at the multi-day event, earning All-American honors in the process. Those wrestlers are Hadley Bryant, Harrisburg; Eli Anderson, Sisseton; DeVonne Sesler, Avon; Jaxon Avery, Stagebarn Middle School; Porter Hunsley, Pierre; Cody Lindkekugel, Brandon Valley; Ayson Rice, Canton; Keenan Sheridan, Sioux Falls O’Gorman; Micah Hach, Watertown and Britney Rueb, Avon. 

“Team South Dakota sent 114 wrestlers, the most we’ve ever sent to the Heartland Duals,” Cory Neuharth, Secretary Treasurer for South Dakota USA Wrestling said. “There were 15 states represented with a combined total of about 90 teams that competed in the tournament.”

South Dakota Results:

High School Boys -  2nd place in the Diamond pool

Ayson Rice All-American (6-0), Keenan Sheridan All-American (6-0), Micah Hach All-American (6-0) 

High School Girls — 4th place in the Diamond pool

Britney Rueb All-American (6-0)

Girls 1-8th Grade:  6th place in the platinum pool (Hadley Bryant All-American (7-0))

Elementary Boys (2 teams) SD Team Lightning 6th place in the platinum pool

Eli Anderson All-American (8-0), DeVonne Sesler All-American (8-0)

SD Team Thunder 3rd place in the Silver pool (No All-Americans)

Middle School Boys (2 teams): SD Team Lightning--5th place in Platinum pool

Jaxson Avery All-American (7-0), Porter Hunsley All-American (7-0), Cody Lindekugel All-American (7-0)

SD Team Thunder 4th place in the Silver pool No All-Americans

South Dakota was represented by 13 coaches and athletes that comprised seven teams.
