CASPER, Wyo. — New Underwood’s Cooper Filipek placed second at the College National Finals Rodeo on Saturday. 

Filipek, of Gillette Community College, placed second in the bareback riding with a 320.5 average. He scored an 81 in the short go-round. 

Belle Fourche’s Lan Fuhrer, of South Dakota State University, and Black Hills State’s Clayton Backhaus finished third in the team roping with a 23.5 average. 

Sturgis’ Bodie Mattson, of the University of Wyoming, and Casper College’s Roan Weil placed 10th in the team roping with a 17.7 average. 

Hereford’s Talon Elshere, of Casper College, finished fifth in the saddle bronc riding with a 304.5 average. He scored an 80.5 in the short go-round.
