South Dakotans provide top marks at Dan Lennon Invitational Class B track meet

VERMILLION — A number of South Dakota athletes got their 2024 track and field seasons kicked off at Tuesday’s Dan Lennon Invitational. 

Chester Area’s Emery Larson won the 3,200-meter run (11:10) and 1,600-meter run (5:19). Burke’s Piper Hanson won the 60-meter hurdles (9.54) while Scotland’s Trinity Bietz won the shot put (38-4.25). Parker picked up a pair of wins in the 800-meter relay (1:53.88) and from Shayla Voeltz in the long jump (16-8.75). Menno’s Ashton Massey won the triple jump (34-4.25) and placed highly in three other events.

Several notable performances on the boys side as Chester’s Jovi Wolf finished second in the 400-meter dash (52.20) and White River’s Ethan Watson earned a massive personal best finishing second in the shot put (55-6).
