CUSTER — St. Thomas More’s Max Speed hit a new personal best at Wednesday’s Custer Invite.

The senior tossed a mark of 55-08 to take the shot put title. The mark moves speed into second place on the Class A boys shot put leaders.

In the boys' meet, Sturgis Brown’s Seth Burton won the 100-meter (:11.05) and 200-meter (:22.16) dashes.

Custer’s Mason Dirkes finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (:17.05) while Carter Cooper took first in the 800-meter run (2:11.40). Adam Hohn finished first in the 1,600-meter run (5:04.94) for the Wildcats as well.

Philip’s Creston Burns took first place in the 300-meter hurdles (:43.83) while Baylor Burns added a top finish in the 3,200-meter run (10:38.60).

Wall’s Dawson Handcock took the top spot in the 400-meter race (:50.96).

Custer’s relay team of Marcus Merrill, Dirkes, Brady Virtue and Danny Immormino won the 400-meter relay (:46.25), while Dalton Marshall, Austin Drew, Jared Cooper and Ian Schiffer secured the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.03) for Custer.

Rapid City Christian’s Finn Kieffer, Elijah Compton, Reed Lindberg and Sully Kieffer won the 800-meter relay (1:39.13).

Little Wound’s Jeremiah Brave Heart, Louis Kills Crow Indian, Francisco Richards and Payton Williams won the 3,200-meter relay (9:49.47).

New Underwood’s Gunner Garrett, Blake Beer, Ruger Spring and Gage Huether won the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:12.91).

In the field events, Hot Springs’ Owen White secured the discus title (151-04) while Alain Rono took the long jump (19-11.50) and triple jump (42-03.00) events.

Rapid City Christian’s Delayne Mesteth topped the high jump event (5-10).

Sturgis Brown’s Levi Brant secured the javelin throw (160-01).

On the girls side, Sturgis Brown’s Kaylie Theberge won the 100-meter dash (:12.14) and also took the top spot in the long jump (17-02.50).

Mahpiya Luta’s Ashlan Carlow-Blount secured the 100-meter hurdles (:15.64).

RCC’s Sadie Marshall won the 200-meter (:27.18) and 400-meter (1:02.75) races while teammate Taylor Harrelson secured the 800-meter run (2:49.24).

Custer’s Siena Schultz added a first place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (:51.16).

New Underwood’s Olivia Carmichael finished first in the 1,600-meter run (6:11.69).

Newell’s Annika Bonebrake secured the 3,200-meter run (14:59.68).

ML’s Carlow-Blount, Josephine Haas, Dorthie Mesteth and Kaimana Newbrough won the 400-meter relay (:52.88).

Philip’s Kale Peterson, Nora Peterson, Tatum Williams and Callie Harry won the 800-meter relay (1:54.30).

RCC’s Sam Warnke, Bria Marshall, Sadie Marshall and Maddie Kooiman won the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:27.00).

Custer’s Taylor Busch, Kiran Pesicka, Kingsley Ludwig and Mikayla Dennis secured the 1,600-meter relay (4:41.21) while Dennix, Pesicka, Emma Halverson and Makenzi Ham took first place in the 3,200-meter relay (10:36.04).

In the field events, Custer’s Karyn Ellerton took both the discus (143-00) and shot put (40-04) events.

Wall’s Ciara Cerney secured the high jump title (4-11).

RC Stevens’ Rehgan Broderick won the javelin throw (106-05). 

New Underwood’s Emmalee Scott took first place in the triple jump (31-01.00).
