Team Black sweeps Team Red in 2025 South Dakota American Legion all-star games

Team Black 5, Team Red 3

BRANDON — Team Black jumped out to a five-run lead to take Game 1 of the South Dakota American Legion all-star games Monday.

Big Stone City’s Isaac Brown led Team Black with two hits, a walk and an RBI, Colton’s Carter Sorenson had two walks and an RBI, Dell Rapids’ Tad Tjaden tallied two hits, Sioux Falls East’s Dietrich Haan and Yankton’s Matthew Sheldon each drove in a run on one hit, while Winner/Colome’s Landon Calhoon drove in a run on one hit in the win. Groton’s Carter Simon had a hit in the win as well.

Milbank’s Joe Schulte took the win on the mound in three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four. Salem’s Shea Klinkhammer pitched one inning for Team Black, allowing one run on two hits and a walk, striking out one while Haan closed the final three innings, giving up just two hits, a walk, and a strikeout.

For Team Red, Rapid City Post 22’s Jaden Moreno allowed four runs on six hits and a walk in three innings of a start. Elk Point/Jefferson’s Keaton Gale pitched two innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk, striking out two. Groton’s Nick Morris tossed two shutout innings, giving up a walk and a strikeout as well.

Groton’s Korbin Kucker drove in a run on one hit, Groton’s Brevin Fliehs had two hits, a double, and two RBIs, while Colton’s Alex Wingen, Rapid City Post 22’s Dawson Inhofer, Moreno and Madison’s Carson Wolf each had a hit in the loss.


Team Black 10, Team Red 6

BRANDON — Team  Black scored seven runs in the first two frames to sweep Team Red in the 2025 South Dakota American Legion all-star games Monday.

Rapid City Post 22’s Aiden Roberts, Milbank Post 9’s Joe Schulte and Big Stone City’s Isaac Brown each had two hits and an RBI, Yankton Post 12’s Matthew Sheldon and Sioux Falls Post 15’s Dietrich Haan each had an RBI on one hit, Salem’s Shea Klinkhammer recorded an RBI on a walk while Madison Post 25’s Jordan Pedersen recorded a hit in the win. 

Rapid City Post 22’s Skyler Montgomery took the win on the mound in four innings of work, allowing six runs on five hits and two walks, striking out five. Roberts, Winner/Colome’s Landon Calhoon and Rapid City Post 22’s Jace Morgan each pitched an inning of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out five combined batters.

For Team Red, Colton’s Braxton Allen took the loss in one inning of work, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks. Madison’s Carson Wolf and Rapid City Post 22’s Dawson Inhofer each tallied two innings of work, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk, while Groton’s Korbin Kucker allowed four runs on a hit and four walks in one inning, striking out two.

Elk Point/Jefferson’s Keaton Gale tallied two hits and an RBI, Kucker had two RBIs on one hit, Groton’s Nick Morris and Inhofer each had an RBI on one hit, while Groton’s Brevin Fliehs totaled a triple and a walk in the loss. Elk Point/Jefferson’s Grayson Girard drove in a run as well.
