Two South Dakotans celebrated National Tight Ends Day in style.

Timber Lake’s Tucker Kraft and Britton’s Dallas Goedert shined during National Tight Ends Day, an unofficial NFL holiday celebrated on the fourth Sunday in October to recognize the tight end position.

Goedert, an eighth-year tight end, caught three catches for 28 yards and two touchdown receptions in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 38-20 win over the New York Giants.

Goedert has hauled in 30 receptions for 289 yards and seven touchdown catches this season.

Kraft, a third-year tight end, racked up career-highs in receiving yards (143 yards), receptions (seven) and caught two touchdown passes in the Green Bay Packers’ 35-25 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kraft leads the Packers in catches (30), receiving yards (469) and touchdown receptions (six) this season.

Kraft’s hometown was featured several times on NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcast, including a video of his supporters from the Corner Bar & Grill in Timber Lake.

Kraft was interviewed on national TV following the career day, and NBC rolled footage of his hometown bar celebrating one of his touchdown receptions.

NBC’s Melissa Stark asked the ascending tight end about the hometown support, “What’s your message for them — back in your small, small hometown?”

“I am just so grateful,” Kraft answered. “Everything that they do for me behind the scenes — I don’t have the words to articulate how I feel in the moment. It’s just immense gratitude. We just have to keep pressing on. We have to keep stacking these wins and keep rolling. But Timber Lake, I love you. Thank you guys so much.”

Kraft and Goedert were both nine-man football players, and later starred at South Dakota State University.
