PINE RIDGE — On Oct. 10 when Pine Ridge hosts Todd County throngs of Thorpe and Falcon fans will pack the stands. 

It is homecoming week in Pine Ridge and today’s game features two teams, each with one loss that are vying for home-field advantage throughout the Class 9A playoffs. The two teams share a common loss to Winnebago, Nebraska. The Falcons average 45 points per game while giving up 21 points per game. The Thorpes average 51 points per game and give up 19 points per game. 

Of note for Pine Ridge, junior quarterback Marvin Richard III returns to the starting lineup after missing several games with an ankle injury. 

The other big Class 9A game this week sees Little Wound at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Tiospaye Topa. Both teams have a 3-3 record with identical power point totals (40.000). The winner of today’s game will likely host the same opponent in the first round of the All-Nations football playoffs.

WHITE RIVER — There’s a huge game Oct. 10 in White River as the Tigers (4-1) host the Chiefs (4-1) from Macy, Nebraska. 

Both teams share losses to Lower Brule and the winner of the game puts themselves in the driver’s seat from the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage through the playoffs.
