WAGNER — Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal was named the 2025-26 Gatorade South Dakota girls basketball player of the year Friday, March 13.

The 6-foot-3 senior led the Red Raiders to an 18-2 season and a fourth berth to the Class A state tournament in the past five seasons.

Koupal is averaging 28 points, 14.2 rebounds, 4.3 blocks and 4.2 assists this season, shooting 63.8% from the field and 46.4% from 3-point range.

The future Nebraska Cornhusker is the No. 10 recruit in the class of 2026 according to 247sports and has totaled over 2,500 career points, 1,100 rebounds, 450 assists and 350 blocks in her career.

Koupal was also selected to the McDonald’s All-American game earlier this year, the first-ever girls basketball player in state history to be selected to the prestigious all-star game.
