SIOUX FALLS — Lincoln Kranig put an exclamation point on his high school track and field career on Saturday.

The Kimball/White Lake senior trackster won the 200-meter dash (:21.89), 400-meter dash (:49.45) and placed second in the 100-meter dash (:11.00) at the three-day event. For his efforts, Kranig was named the Class B boys track athlete of the meet.

Kranig began the day winning the 400-meter dash, edging Bridgewater-Emery’s Holden Wollmann (:49.91).

“Going into it I was just nervous,” Kranig said about the 400. “But not for competition. I was just nervous it was going to hurt. I was right, it hurt a lot.”

In the 200-meter dash, Kranig erupted with emotions after setting a meet record in the event. Kranig pulled away from the field, and Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich (:22.26) was the next closest competitor.

Kranig not only set a meet record, but also captured the race he finished second in last season. Bennett County’s Rush O’Neill, who won the 2025 race, placed third this season at :22.34 seconds.

“I was so angry going into that 200,” Kranig said. “Because when I lost to Rush last year, it’s because I felt like I didn’t get out hard enough. So I took off as hard as I could.

“I wanted to win it last year and it got away from me. So I just gave it everything I had to win it.”

After Kranig bested the eight-person field, he let off an emotional scream and celebrated the meet record.

“At first I was super celebrating that I won,” Kranig said. “When I saw the time and how I did, that made me really happy.”

Kranig, who will compete collegiately at Dakota State University, ran the anchor leg on KWL’s seventh-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay (3:38.64).
