A week ago the No. 2 Canton girls held a 45 point lead over No. 3 Watertown. Entering the new year and in the Week 5 Dakota Grappler rankings that margin has been trimmed to nine points.

Pierre continues to get stronger and received 180 points in this week’s poll, ahead of Canton (118) and Watertown (109). Harrisburg (92) and Brookings (75) round out this week’s top-five girls teams.

A new No. 1 in the (100) weight class as Watertown’s Olivia Anderson takes over the top-spot. The (100) class could be one of the best at the state tournament as Pierre’s Shaylee Sprick, Groton Area’s Liza Krueger and Canton’s Finley Evjen have all held the No. 1 ranking at some point this season.

Brandon Valley’s Mary-Katherine Joseph dropped from 114 to 107 this week and moved into the No. 1 ranking in that weight class. Canton’s Sara Schroder takes over the top-ranking at (114). Lemmon/Mcintosh’s Quinn Butler moved down from 126 to 120 and assumed the No. 1 ranking in that weight class.

One of the big movers this week was Custer freshman Jessica Hite who moved down from 250 to 185 and assumed the No. 1 ranking in her new weight class.
