EUGENE, Ore. — Two South Dakota sprint medley relay teams earned top-three finishes at Thursday’s Nike Outdoor Nationals. 

The Yankton quartet of Austin Gobel, Connor Slaba, Carson Ness and Dylan Payer placed second in the boys sprint medley relay in 3:31.48, finishing behind first-place Newburgh Elite of New York (3:27.70). 

The Sioux Falls Christian foursome of Halle Braun, Mya VanDonge, Anna Vyn and Corinne Braun placed third in the girls sprint medley relay in 4:01.70. Minnetonka, Minnesota (3:56.23) and Westview, California (4:00.56) finished first and second, respectively. 

On Wednesday, Dakota Valley’s Alex McCullough placed third in the girls middle school mile (5:14.23) and fifth in the girls middle school 1,500-meter run (4:55.85).
