SIOUX FALLS — A spectacular first day of wrestling at the Class B state tournament will have fans in the small communities of Philip, Kadoka and Wall buzzing.

Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall Badlands Brawlers advanced seven grapplers to Friday’s semifinals. The Brawlers amassed 73 points, ahead of Canton (61) and Custer (54.5). Winner Area (49.5) and Wagner (42.5) round out the top fives after day one action at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. 

Canton advances five wrestlers to Friday’s semifinals while the Custer Wildcats pushed six athletes into the championship placing matches:
