BROOKINGS — If history is any guide, expect the unexpected for the Class B girls basketball tournament.

In recent history, the tournament has been filled with unexpected champions and thrillers. The eight-team tournament tips off Thursday in Brookings, with No. 1 Lyman playing No. 8 Corsica-Stickney at 11 a.m. CT.

The other first-round matchups include: No. 4 Ethan vs. No. 5 Colman-Egan at 12:45 p.m., No. 2 Parkston vs. No. 7 Centerville at 5 p.m., and No. 3 Bennett County vs. No. 6 Bennett County.

Here’s a look at all eight teams in the field: 


No. 1 Lyman

Record: 21-2

Coach: Cody Volmer
