Elk Point-Jefferson 3, Madison 1

ABERDEEN — Elk Point-Jefferson upset top-seeded Madison in the opening round of the Class A state softball tournament on Thursday. The Huskies will face West Central at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Regan Rasmussen took the win on the mound in seven strong innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and a walk, striking out seven.

Cera Schmitz had two hits, a triple, and an RBI while Rasmussen added a base hit in the win as well.

For Madison, Aubri Tobkin allowed three unearned runs on two hits and three walks in 4.1 innings, striking out six.

Kelcie Dudley had two hits and an RBI in the loss.


West Central 2, Beresford 0

ABERDEEN — Linzie Hoff tossed a complete-game shutout to push West Central over Beresford in the quarterfinals of the Class A state tournament on Thursday. The Trojans will face Elk Point-Jefferson at 2 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals.

Hoff allowed just four hits and three walks in seven shutout innings, striking out nine to earn the win on the mound.

Briauna Hoff had an RBi on one hit while Maddy Kunzweiler and Stella Siemonsma each had two hits in the win.

For Beresford, Brynlee Mohning took the loss in six innings pitched, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks, striking out two.

Ivy Keiser, Rylie Laurvick, Tavyn Tiedeman and Kate Degen each had a hit in the loss for the Watchdogs.


Tri-Valley 13, Lennox 4

ABERDEEN — Haleigh Wallenstein and Isabella Wetmore-Ocampo both drove in four runs apiece as Tri-Valley rolled past Lennox in the quarterfinals of the Class A state tournament. The Mustangs will face Dakota Valley at 4 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals.

Wallenstein had four RBIs on two hits and a walk while Wetmore-Ocampo batted 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs in the win.

Syenna Halverson had an RBI on a walk, Kadence Davey added an RBI on one hit, while Ava Christensen tallied two hits, a walk, and an RBI in the win.

Davey earned the win on the mound in 5.1 shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out five.

For Lennox, Layci Eli allowed nine runs on eight hits and five walks in 3.2 innings, striking out three.

Hailey Seelen had two RBIs on a double and a walk while Aleeah Oltmanns added an RBI-double in the loss.


Dakota Valley 7, Sioux Valley 2

ABERDEEN — Emma Barnett struck out 11 batters as Dakota Valley clipped Sioux Valley in the Class A state quarterfinals on Thursday. The Panthers will face Tri-Valley at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Barnett earned the win on the mound in seven innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk, striking out 11 in the win.

Madie Munch had two RBIs on two hits, Payton Konopasek added two hits, a double, and an RBI while Mia Riibe and Annie Bourne both had an RBI on one hit in the win.

For SV, Abby Axtell took the loss in 3.1 innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out two.

McKinley Schwab tallied an RBI while Amelia Jacobson added two hits in the loss.
