Aug. 26 Volleyball Roundup - Parker/Marion picks up two wins at Hanson Early Bird tournament

Parker/Marion 2, Hanson 1

ALEXANDRIA — Parker/Marion edged Hanson in three sets at Tuesday’s Hanson Early Bird tournament. The set scores were 25-20, 20-25 and 27-25. 

For PM, Kyla Fosheim tallied four kills and four digs, Lanae Waldner added four kills and five blocks, Kallie Johnson had six digs and three kills. Mara Mohr tallied nine assists, Hannah Schaeffer added eight assists, while Braelyn Berens led the team in digs with 16 in the loss.

Ava Doyle led the Beaverettes with 15 kills and seven digs, Rylee Furgeson had seven kills, Brooke Endorf tallied 13 assists and three digs, Audrina Waldera added 11 assists, three digs and two aces, while Claire Bridge netted 25 digs and three aces in the win.


Wessington Springs 2, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 0

ALEXANDRIA — Wessington Springs swept Andes Central/Dakota Christian during Tuesday’s Hanson Early Bird tournament. The set scores were 25-17 and 25-17.

Jewel McGeough led the Spartans with six kills, Logan Mohling had 12 assists, six digs and four aces, Remie Roduner tallied 15 digs while Kendall Kolousek and Kerstyn Heim each had six digs in the win.

For ACDC, Lily Muckey had two kills and three digs, Callie Bergin recorded four digs while Nakayah Long added four assists and four digs in the loss.


Parker/Marion 2, Wessington Springs 0

ALEXANDRIA — Parker-Marion swept Wessington Springs during Tuesday’s Hanson Early Bird Classic. The set scores were 25-23 and 25-17.

Maliyah Nankivel had five kills, Braelyn Berens recorded 18 digs, Kallie Johnson added 13 digs, Hannah Schaeffer netted 15 assists and seven digs, while Sarah Gullickson totaled seven digs in the win. Lanae Waldner and Paige Haase each had four kills in the win as well.

For WS, Logan Mohling had 10 assists and 10 digs, Remie Roduner tallied 22 digs, Kaitlyn Braun added six kills and a block while Brooklyn Caffee tallied three kills in the loss.


Freeman 2, Platte-Geddes 0

ALEXANDRIA — Freeman swept Platte-Geddes at Tuesday’s Hanson Early Bird tournament. The set scores were 25-19 and 25-18. 

Freeman’s Rylee Peters posted four kills and eight digs. Vaida Ammann added four kills, four digs and two assists. Claire Loofbourrow posted three kills and four digs. Sam Fransen added six assists, six digs and two aces. Libby Ammann had four digs and Rylea Timmerman had three digs. 

Platte-Geddes stats were not reported. 


Freeman 2, Avon 0

ALEXANDRIA — Freeman swept Avon at Tuesday’s Hanson Early Bird tournament. The set scores were 25-23 and 25-22.

Freeman’s Vaida Ammann totaled six kills, 13 digs and five assists. Rylee Peters posted four kills and 14 digs. Cadence Hofer recorded four kills and nine digs. Claire Loofbourrow had two kills and 11 digs. Libby Ammann totaled eight digs. Sam Fransen recorded 13 assists and six digs. Rylea Timmerman had three kills and three digs.

For Avon, Rilyn Thury recorded 11 kills, five digs, two blocks and one ace. Brielle Voigt finished with 13 assists and six digs. Jordyn Voigt recorded 15 digs. Breanna Hento totaled seven digs, while Kaydence Metzger had three kills and three digs. Lexi Vanderlei added six digs. 


Avon 2, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 0

ALEXANDRIA — Avon swept Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at Tuesday’s Hanson Early Bird tournament. The set scores were 26-24 and 25-19.

Avon’s Rilyn Thury recorded 16 kills, six digs and two aces. Brielle Voigt added 19 assists and four digs. Jordyn Voigt totaled 12 digs and one ace. Kaydence Metzger had four kills, three aces and two digs. Breanna Hento had two kills, three digs and two aces.

For SCW, Liz Boschee totaled five kills and three aces. Addison Bartholow tallied 11 digs and three kills. Kali Hofer had six assists, digs and one kill. Addy Baruth totaled six assists, three digs and one block. 


Miller 3, Kimball/White Lake 1

MILLER — Class A No. 4 Miller defeated Kimball/White Lake in Tuesday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-14, 25-11, 21-25 and 25-4. 

Miller’s Paige Werdel finished with four aces, 14 digs and one solo block. Jolie Palmer added five aces, four assists and 14 digs. Kaihlyn Anderberg recorded three aces, and one block. Emma Pugh posted 13 digs, while Gracen Werdel totaled 42 assists and two aces. 

For KWL, Rylee McCord finished with five kills and 18 digs. Brandi Surat added seven kills and four blocks. Mariah Gosmire totaled four blocks, 24 assists and 18 digs. Sienna Gillen posted 22 digs.


Winner 3, Bon Homme 1

WINNER — Winner defeated Bon Homme in four sets during Tuesday’s high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-15, 22-25, 25-22, and 25-13.

Winner’s Livvy Audiss had 20 kills, 15 digs and five aces, Lilly Barfuss recorded 11 kills, Payton Sargent added seven kills, Gracie Root recorded 39 assists and four aces while Alice Wilson added four aces in the win.

For BH, Taycee Ranek had nine kills and 10 digs, Emma Balvin had six kills and 13 digs, while Olivia Kaul recorded five blocks and three aces in the loss.


Centerville 3, Viborg-Hurley 0 

CENTERVILLE — Centerville swept Viborg-Hurley in Tuesday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-12, 25-17 and 25-12. 

Centerville’s Lillee Shearer recorded eight kills and six digs. Ella Ruter added four kills and 10 digs. Tessa Eide recorded 11 digs and three aces. Izzie Eide tallied seven kills, three aces, two digs and one kill. Kenzie Carstensen totaled four digs and three aces. Haley Childress had 15 assists.

For VH, Isabella Voog had 14 digs and Hayley Voog totaled six digs. Presley Skonhovd added three kills and eight assists. Olivia Hanson totaled three aces, two kills and one block.


Northwestern 3, Aberdeen Roncalli 1

MELLETTE —  Class B No. 3 Northwestern beat Aberdeen Roncalli in four sets during Tuesday’s high school volleyball action. The set scores were 29-27, 23-25, 25-14, and 25-17.

Ashley Haven had 21 kills, six blocks and three aces. Breelyn Satter tallied six kills, Lila Johnson had five kills, 16 digs, nine assists and seven aces, while Ella Boekelheide finished with 28 assists and three blocks in the win.

Roncalli’s stats were not reported.


West Central 3, Vermillion 0

VERMILLION — West Central swept Vermillion in high school volleyball action Tuesday. The set scores were 25-15, 25-16, and 25-17.

Cambree Ideker had 20 assists and nine digs for the Trojans, Ella Harden added 12 kills while Sophia Gross tallied three blocks and three aces as well.

For Vermillion, Elizabeth Fisher and Ciena Mount each had three kills, Calie Schultz totaled three kills and two blocks, Skylar Griese added five assists, Ally Peterson had four assists while Kara Chapman recorded three assists in the loss.


Sioux Valley 3, Deuel 1

VOLGA — Sioux Valley topped Deuel in four sets in Tuesday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 19-25, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-13. 

Sioux Valley’s Emma Gorvin finished with 10 kills. Lacey Langland recorded seven kills, while Abygale Degen posted five kills. McKinley Schwab posted 39 assists.

For Deuel, Alaina Carlson finished with eight kills, while Camdyn Peterreins totaled seven kills. Lauryn Peterreins posted six kills and Kamryn Kreger totaled five kills. 


Canistota 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 1

CANISTOTA — Canistota defeated Oldham-Ramona/Rutland in four sets in Tuesday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 23-25, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-22.

Canistota’s Emma Sandman finished with 13 kills and one block. Ember Schnabel totaled 12 kills, seven aces and 20 digs. Haley McGregor finished with five kills. Clara Remacle finished with three aces, and 22 digs. Ellie Becker dished out 26 assists. Katelyn Bond and Abby Keller had three aces apiece.

For ORR, Brookelyn Riedel finished with nine kills, seven digs and two assists. Rylan Pearson posted 10 assists and one ace. Gabby Pickard had three aces and nine digs. Emma Powell finished with three kills.

 

Corsica-Stickney 3, Irene-Wakonda 2

CORSICA — Corsica-Stickney clipped Irene-Wakonda in a five-set thriller Tuesday in high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-22, 26-24, 25-23, 26-24 and 15-8.

Sophie DeLange led with 30 kills, 14 digs and two blocks, Braylee Bordewyk had 14 kills, 24 assists, three aces and one block, Hadynn Johnson added nine kills, 21 digs and four aces, while Cali Vanden Hoek added 20 digs. Remi Nelson also recorded 18 assists and three aces in the win as well.

For IW, Bella Healy had 10 kills, Maryn Lyngstad had six kills, Addison Brockmueller tallied five kills and two blocks, Reagan Rudd recorded 14 assists while Emily Oien added eight digs in the loss.


Redfield 3, Florence-Henry 1

HENRY — Redfield defeated Florence-Henry in four sets in Tuesday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-18, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-17.

Redfield’s Charli Jungwirth posted 10 kills, while Brynn Giblin had nine kills and five blocks. Ceci Suchor totaled seven kills. Hayden Gall recorded 14 assists and 13 digs. Katryn Evans recorded 29 digs. Kinley Smith totaled two blocks. 

Florence-Henry stats were not reported.
