Canton opens up big lead after day one of Class B state tournament

RAPID CITY — Seven Canton athletes advanced to semifinal action of the Class B state wrestling tournament helping Canton earn a lead after day one of the state wrestling tournament.

The C-Hawks scored 80 points, ahead of WInner (57.5) and Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes (51). Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall (44.5) and Parkston (39) round out the top-five. 

Landon Walker (113), Carter Kendrick (120), Zach Bartels (126), Aiden Schrempp (132), Conner Giedd (150), Aiden Kranz (165), Teague Granum (190) and Hunter Richmond (285) are the semifinalists from Canton. 

Winner was very strong in the lower weights as Apollo Willuweit (106), Roukyn Robbins (113), Rylan Robbins (120), Karson Keiser (138) and Ryken Orel (144) all went 2-0 on day one of the B tournament. 

Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes also had five athletes reach Friday’s semifinals as Gavin Braun (132), Johnny Lenz (144), Iden Myers (150), Carter Konechne (157) and Lucas Lenz (165) went 2-0 at the Monument.
