Chamberlain boys and girls sweep team titles at Big Dakota Conference meet

MOBRIDGE — The Chamberlain track and field teams swept the team titles at Tuesday’s Big Dakota Conference meet. 

The Chamberlain boys took first place with 140 team points, ahead of Todd County (113) and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (105). The Chamberlain girls team ran away with the team title scoring 191 points, ahead of Mobridge-Pollock (148) and CEB (95).

In the boys' meet, Todd County’s Talan Iyotte won the 100-meter dash (:12.12) while teammate Ciante Black Spotted Horse won the 800-meter run (2:09.50).

Chamberlain’s Austin Rose secured the 200-meter dash (:23.73) while Isaac Shepherd won the 400-meter race (:52.84) for the Cubs. Chamberlain’s Xavier Donovan added a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.70) as well.

TC’s Bryson Edwards took first place in the 300-meter hurdles (:43.50).

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Demetrius Sanchez-Gonzalez won the 1,600-meter run (4:54.43) while teammate Jackson Taken Alive took first place in the 3,200-meter race (11:00.19) as well.

TC’s quartet of Marcus Harris, Iyotte, Edwards and Chris Ellert won the 400-meter relay.

Chamberlain’s 800-meter relay team with Rose, Donovan, Jackson Cedarface and Shepherd took first place (1:36.32).

Stanley County’s Landon Bame, Brendon Bothwell, Paxton Deal and Justin Trebbe combined to win the 1,600-meter relay (3:49.87).

CEB won two relays, with Xavier Sanchez-Gonzalez, Demetrius Sanchez-Gonzalez, Jackson Taken Alive and Jayden Taken Alive winning the 3,200-meter relay (8:47.24). Jayden and Jackson Taken Alive combined with Nick Woods and Daison Harden also won the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay as well (4:04.96).

In field events, Mobridge-Pollock’s Kellen Pfitzer took the shot put (52-09), while teammates Jesse Schneider won the high jump event (5-10) and Trayden Stambach took first place in the triple jump (42-09.00).

Chamberlain’s Tristen Johnson won the long jump event (19-11.00).

Stanley County’s Jace Hand earned a first place finish in the javelin throw (150-08) while Winner’s Jaxon Day won the discus event (180-03).

In the girls' meet, CEB’s Isabella Ganje won the 100-meter dash (:13.87).

MP’s Bentley Bauer won two races, taking the top spot in the 200-meter (:27.12) and 400-meter races (1:01.19). Bauer also won the long jump event (17-00.50).

Chamberlain’s Grace Phillips won both the 1,600-meter race (5:22.80) and the 3,200-meter run (12:08.45), while teammate Silvana Houska took first place in the 800-meter run (2:30.78).

Winner’s Madelyn Danford secured the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles (:18.17) while Jayda Thompson of Mobridge-Pollock won the 300-meter hurdle race (:48.81).

Winner’s quartet of Kylie Sachtjen, Paisley Hossle, Danford and Kinley Meek won the 400-meter relay (:53.74).

Stanley County’s Austyn Norman, Addy Deal, Ryan Bothwell and Brianna Sargent won the 800-meter relay (1:55.44) and the 1,600-meter relay (4:39.16).

Chamberlain’s Phillips, Houska, Kylah Biggins and Sasha Van Den Bosch won the 3,200-meter relay (10:38.09), while Phillips, Evelyn Bunker, Alexandra and Nicole Schmiedt combined to win the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:31.36).

In field events, Chamberlain’s Piper Powell won both the shot put (31-05) and discus (118-01) events, while Biggins secured the triple jump event (0-02.25).

CEB’s Ja’Laya Upshaw took first place in the high jump event (4-09).

MP’s Ellie Kemnitz took first place in the javelin throw (106-08).
