Class A Boys Roundup - Clark/Willow Lake pulls away from Stanley County, plays West Central in semifinals

Clark/Willow Lake 66, Stanley County 36

RAPID CITY — Four players scored in double figures to power Clark/Willow Lake to a Class A boys basketball tournament win on Thursday. 

CWL’s Chris Bevers finished with 24 points and six rebounds. Emmerson Larson recorded 18 points and four rebounds. Sullivan Felberg had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Bo Begeman scored 10 points.

For Stanley County, Paxton Deal finished with 15 points and six boards. Eddie Duffy and Trevor Caldwell scored six points apiece. 


Sioux Falls Christian 82, St. Thomas More 59 

RAPID CITY — Brant Wassenaar poured in 26 points as Sioux Falls Christian defeated St. Thomas More in the first round of the Class A state boys basketball tournament Thursday.

Wassenaar led Chargers with 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the win, Canyon Prins added 14 points and three rebounds, Mitchell Hofer had 11 points and three boards, Cooper Goodbary netted 10 points, four boards and five steals while Cooper Strande and Carson Nickles each had seven points in the win.

For STM, Wyatt Gylten had 21 points and nine rebounds, Broden Sales added 16 points, Ashton Paulsen recorded eight points and four rebounds while Noah Wald and Baron Slusarski each had five points in the loss.


Hamlin 65, Groton Area 61

RAPID CITY — Boden Stevenson and Jackson Wadsworth combined for 47 points as Hamlin outlasted Groton Area in the first round of the Class A state boys basketball tournament on Thursday.

Stevenson finished with a game-high 27 points with three rebounds and four assists, Jackson Wadsworth added 20 points with three assists and three boards while Jack Stormo and Aiden Abraham each had eight points in the win.

For GA, Karson Zak had 23 points and three assists, Gage Sippel recorded 12 points and six boards, Easton Weber had nine points and three rebounds, Keegen Tracy netted seven points while Ryder Johnson recorded five points and four boards in the loss.


West Central 75, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 41

RAPID CITY — Connor Mebius’ 25-point outing lifted West Central over Cheyenne-Eagle Butte during the first round of the Class A state boys basketball tournament Thursday.

Mebius finished with 25 points, four rebounds and two assists, Will Kuhl collected 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block, Hayden Heier netted 10 points and five boards, Boche Knight tallied nine points while Tanner Wagner and Kolte Garry each had six points in the win.

For CEB, Damien Clown had 15 points and four rebounds, Levi Elk Nation recorded 10 points, three rebounds and two steals while Destinn Straight Head had five points in the loss.
