Class A Boys Roundup - Sioux Falls Christian tops Hamlin, plays West Central in state championship

Sioux Falls Christian 58, Hamlin 47

RAPID CITY — Brant Wassenaar’s 28-points powered Sioux Falls Christian over Hamlin in the Class A state semifinals on Friday. The Chargers will play in the Class A state championship game at 6:45 p.m., MT, on Saturday.

Wassenaar finished with 28 points , five rebounds and two steals, Canyon Prins netted 14 points, nine boards and two steals while Cooper Goodbary had seven points and six rebounds in the win.

For Hamlin, Jackson Wadsworth tallied 15 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block, Aiden Abraham added 11 points, Jack Stormo collected eight points, Boden Stevenson netted seven points, eight rebounds and five assists while Trig Heinrich netted six points and four rebounds in the loss.


West Central 56, Clark/Willow Lake 43

RAPID CITY — Connor Mebius and Will Kuhl powered West Central to the Class A state championship. 

Mebius finished with 22 points and five rebounds. Kuhl added 16 points and nine points. Boche Knight had six points.

For CWL, Sullivan Felberg had 13 points and eight boards. Bo Begeman had eight points and five boards. Chris Bevers totaled seven points and six boards. Emmerson Larson scored six points. 


St. Thomas More 94, Groton Area 92 (2OT)

RAPID CITY — Six different players scored in double figures as St. Thomas More outlasted Groton Area in a double-overtime thriller in the Class A state consolation semifinals on Friday.

Wyatt Gylten led the Cavaliers with 24 points, hitting 6-of-12 shots from beyond the arc, adding eight rebounds and three assists as well. 

Noah Wald tallied 21 points, netting 4-of-8 shots from 3-point range, including four assists, three boards, two steals and a block. Max Speed had 11 points, seven boards and two steals, Baron Slusarski had 11 points and three rebounds while Ashton Paulsen recorded 11 points, three rebounds and five assists in the win.

For GA, Ryder Johnson totaled 26 points, hitting six 3-pointers on 11 attempts, with two assists as well. 

Karson Zak poured in 26 points on 4-of-5 from 3-point range with five boards, four assists and two steals, Keegen Tracy tallied 15 points and two boards, Gage Sippel added 112 points, four rebounds and two blocks Becker Bosma had eight points and four rebounds while Easton Weber totaled five points and six rebounds in the loss.


Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 58, Stanley County 57

RAPID CITY — Damien Clown’s free throw with 33 seconds to go lifted Cheyenne-Eagle Butte over Stanley County in the Class A state consolation semifinals on Friday.

Clown led the Braves with 23 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals, Levi Elk Nation added 16 points, four rebounds and two assists, Nehemiah Veaux tallied six points and five boards while Kobe White collected six points in the win.

For SC, Paxton Deal had 18 points and three assists, Eddie Duffy netted 15 points and seven assists, Teegyn Breitag had 10 points, 14 boards and two assists, Trevor Caldwell netted seven points and nine boards while Brendon Bothwell totaled six points and three assists in the loss.
