Class AA Boys Roundup - Huron holds off Roosevelt, plays Lincoln in state championship

Huron 53, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 44

RAPID CITY — Blake Ellwein and Anderson Porisch powered Huron to the Class AA state championship on Saturday.

Ellwein finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Porisch added 13 points and five boards. Myles Ellwein recorded eight points and three boards. Carter Porisch had five points.

For Roosevelt, Deondre Painter scored 14 points and grabbed five boards. Memphis Bylander totaled 10 points and three rebounds. Akol Thyab had seven points. 


Sioux Falls Lincoln 53, Harrisburg 48

RAPID CITY —  Sam DeGroot’s 24-point outing guided Sioux Falls Lincoln over Harrisburg in the Class AA state semifinals on Friday. The Patriots will play in the Class AA state championship on Saturday at 6:45 p.m., MT.

DeGroot finished with 24 points, five rebounds and four blocks, Brody Schafer added 11 points, five rebounds and seven assists, Sam Ericsson recorded nine points, four rebounds and four steals while Owen Duffy scored seven points in the win.

For Harrisburg, Stellen Larson led with 14 points and eight boards, Crayton Jibben netted 11 points, Cole Kooiker had 11 points while Myles Nour netted six points and three boards in the loss.


Watertown 73, Tea Area 68

RAPID CITY — Carter Buisker and Jackson McClemans combined for 58 points as Watertown earned a comeback win over Tea Area in the Class AA state boys basketball consolation semifinals on Friday.

Buisker finished with a team-high 34 points, hitting 15-of-16 shots from the free throw line, adding five boards, four assists, two steals and a block. McClemans recorded 24 points, five boards, three assists and two steals while Jack Mack added six points, 10 boards and four assists in the win.

For Tea Area, Gavin Shawd dropped 40 points, five rebounds and two steals despite the loss, Grifin Wiebenga added 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block while Mitch Grant recorded seven points and four rebounds in the loss.


Brandon Valley 57, O’Gorman 52

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures as Brandon Valley clipped O’Gorman in the Class AA consolation semifinals on Friday.

Brayden Knutson tallied 17 points to lead the Lynx, Austin Dowd added 13 points and eight rebounds while Lincoln McInerney tallied 12 points, four boards, a steal and a block in the win.

For OG, Mason Clark led with 22 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals, Jaxson Weeldreyer had 10 points and five boards, Kamden Cisse netted seven points and five rebounds while Leyton Arend tallied six points in the loss.
